*ItDoesNotHaveMe:iconItDoesNotHaveMe: reports, January 1, 2008
In the spirit of what this group stands for, health awareness, here is a compiled list of month-long, week-long, and official days for awareness in January. I have also included links to official websites for each cause so that you can read up on any of the following issues and spread the word, making yourself and your loved ones aware of signs, symptoms, risks, treatments, and possibilities.

This is something that I'll be running from this account on a monthly basis.

^opioid

Month-long:

:star: Alzheimer Awareness Month (Canada)

:star: Cervical Screening Month/Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (United States)

:star: Glaucoma Awareness Month (United States)

:star: Cataract Awareness Month (United States)

:star: National Volunteer Blood Donor Month (United States)

:star: Thyroid Awareness Month (United States)

Weekly:

January 21-25, Food Allergy and Intolerance Week and Cancertalk Week (United Kingdom)

January 24-30, World Leprosy Week (Worldwide)

Official Days:

Jan 4: World Braille Day (Worldwide)

Jan 5: Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day (United Kingdom)

Jan 29: World Leprosy Day (Worldwide)

If you know of any other awareness months, weeks, or days, please send a note with that information and I'll gladly add it to the list.

Wow...I had NO idea. It is a wonderful thing that people are so concerned for their fellow man. Amazing. Kind of a cheery thought in this dark winter.
