The Internet as we know it is facing a serious threat. There's a debate heating up in Washington, DC on something called "net neutrality" – and it's a debate that's so important Google is asking you to get involved. We're asking you to take action to protect Internet freedom.

Stem Cells

~tehste:icontehste: reports, July 13
Friedreich's Ataxia is one of the most common forms of inherited ataxia. Ataxia litterally means "absence of order". Ataxia is the main symptom of a group of neurological disorders called the cerebellar ataxias. Parts of the nervous system that control co-ordination and balance deteriorate. I have FA and I am trying to raise enough money to have some stem cell treatment...

Art Thives Again and again...

~NaAmor:iconNaAmor: reports, January 3
Well then, i'm just here to express as many people as possible that i'm completely going mad about those acts.Art thief!

A few month ago, i and a couple of friends have decided to use our insomniac night time in a good way. All keen on deviantArt for its many talents, we started looking for Art thieves through myspace, blogs and even deviants galleries to report each thief we could.

Tonight(it's 02 am), calmly thinking to have a rest and watch what other deviant had submitted i noticed first of all in the "Newest" a very Oldest one, dating back to the 12 November 2005, precisely. A sweet little drawing i know for ages and, Oh! surprise! The thief is a really bad one cause he/she forgot to remove the original watermark which could lead me to the original artist...

I wasn't alone reporting this well known submition.

Second surprise is that in fact the entire 'gallery' is composed of several artworks ripped from many different sources.
Mainly in a Manga/Anime Style some brave deviant found the seeds pictures.

In a few week i've reported more than 20 artworks from dA, mainly from *soleildenuit *pyromaniac :devkmey-chan: `karincoma *Kordelia *khimaereus and even mine.
For the first time, i personally was concerned and understood how disgusting this act is.

I will never understand why people create an account on dA if it's not to express him or her OWN personality?!Why don't they respect artists or wannabe artists?

As far as i'm concerned(my friends too) we're gonna keep up lingering through the web and 'make them cry' as many stamps mean.
Being insomniacs allows us working at night and not "wasting time", but the hunting party doesn't take its end as the sun shines.

Many Great deviant are leaving dA cos of copyrights violations.
Moreover the reputation of dA is always on the edge because of this.

Can't we really do better things to avoid thus?

Okay, where to begin.

a) dA's staff take policy violations seriously, especially art theft. EVERY case is investigated, and they're dealt with, thoroughly. dA's reputation is not at risk, those of the art thieves is.

b) It's not your place to disclose how many people (even if you just say "more than one") report a deviation, and it only takes one proper report to get the issue dealt with. Anything in excess of one report is pointless spam.

c) Vigilante justice, which you claim to be getting ready to enact, gets no one any further. You'll just convince the person to delete the work before they get their due punishment, and thereby let them escape their fate.

d) The "great" deviants who've left dA due to art theft (there's only been one, and it was a former core staff) had personal issue with the site's staff, and their claim of art theft was limited to a character they created being recreated and modified by another user, which at the time was not a violation of policy.

Do your research, this article is nothing more than an unfounded rant. This is not educational, it's a violation of common sense, and it does not belong in news. You have a journal on dA for a reason.

"In a few week i've reported more than 20 artworks from dA, mainly from *soleildenuit *pyromaniac :devkmey-chan: `karincoma *Kordelia *khimaereus and even mine."

...What? You reported these people--and yourself--saying art was stolen? Or do you mean people stole art from these people?

You really should go over grammar and spelling before posting. Brushing up on structure could help a lot too.

A couple months ago I stumbled upon a pornographic image on the front page. It was a photograph--not even artistic--of old men having sex. I, of course, reported the image, and then some time after, went back to the person's dA page to see if (s)he was banned yet. What did I find? An entire gallery of porn, and the image I found on the front page was not deleted. Not only that, this person had quite a few watchers. I reported some of the pictures and ended up remarking in the comments of one of the reports that the person had an entire gallery of pornographic images (so I didn't have to go through his/her whole gallery).

If dA really is as quick at investigating, deleting, and banning as is claimed, why was this person able to fill his/her whole gallery and have watchers before someone noticed? I don't mean to insult deviantART or its staff here, but it was blatant pornography with no artistic merit or skill, yet no one seemed to bother to take care of the issue. How could it be that no one reported this person? I'm sure there were deviants flocking to get him/her banned--and the rest flocking to watch the deviant.

Was it pornography as strictly defined by FAQ #565: You prohibit the submission of 'pornographic material'; what do you consider this to be? ?

Yes, it was pretty much all of the listed. I didn't check for masturbation, but there could have been a man off in the corner doing his own thing too. I mean, you could probably look up "gay old men fucking" and find those kinds of pictures. It's the kind of thing people don't report because they want to piss people off. Sexuality doesn't bother me--I'm the kind of person that finds it ridiculous to even think we need warnings on nudity, so if I'm saying it shouldn't be here, then that's really saying something.
