I have started a project called
Lost2Found.
The mission for this project is to shed light on the LGBTQ community and what it means to come-out of the closet.
Many don't know what its like to come-out because they haven't done it themselves, but they've heard of it. Within our six degrees of seperation, someone has come-out. Someone has journeyed from their known world of safety in hiding, to the unknown of presenting themselves to society.
That's why this project was started. To show people what it feels like, what it means, and what it might be like to come-out.
This project is open to anyone and everyone of all backgrounds and sexualities. You don't have to be LGBTQ to participate!
Participate. Well how you might ask? With ART!
Through art we can show our communities what must be seen. Through our art we can express ourselves in ways we couldn't before. This is an opportunity for those who didn't know how or couldn't speak up before.
Any and all art is accepted because art is art. It portrays the creator's emotions and messages and conveys them to the viewer.
Project Lost2Found is a submission based project where you create a piece and then submit it! You can include your name and other information if you want, but its not necessary.
The idea is that if we can get people to participate in a project where the community can see that people everywhere, not just where we live, but everywhere have something to say, maybe we can open their eyes. Maybe we can change our future by simply doing something we love to do.
We will accept project submission until
March 15th, 2008. After that, we will create a physical gallery in the bay area (location TBA) where people can come and see the work of others. They can see how people feel on this topic. We will also create an online gallery for those not able to attend to view all the work.
Our past was created and molded with the passion of the artists before us. Let us use our passion to change our future.
