Have a think back. When's the last time you drew something in a brand new style? Or when you last tried a completely different medium? Or even used the random deviant or deviation buttons below to see a peice that by all means you wouldn't have seen if pure luck haven't brought you together?
I was browsing through someone's page, and noticed a distinct lack of artwork, and in fact their scrapbook was bigger then their actual gallery. I peeked inside the scrapbook, and saw a beautifly drawn car. I asked why on earth have such a nice car through into the scrapbook, a place where many rarely look, and the other visitors and the lucky curious fellow. The artists responce was that she wanted to keep her gallery free for fan art. And it's attitudes like that that make me wonder if some people have their head really in the game.
I've done a lot of fanart myself, I'll admit that, but I've always wanted to explore new directions, push the boundaries, try new things and done stuff that last week I never thought was possible. In the process, I've changed. I've developed an eye for art. Whereas before I had to keep editing small details until I was reasonably happy, now I know exactly where I want everything to go, and how to go about the best way of achieving the vision I set out to create.
So why not do the same? Try something new. Use the random buttons below or pick something from the front page. There are a lot of fantastic artists out there who deserve more then the minimal attention they're getting now. You just have to look. Comment, fav, make new friends in the community.
