This article is the result of a long (quite long) and meticulous research through DA galleries, an enthusiastic attempt to display the beauty and variety of the “feathered world”, with a focus on both the artistic and documentary merit of the deviations selected. Originally determined to focus exclusively on photography, I later decided to include some traditional and digital art as well. I selected these works trying to offer a range as wide as possible of different species and attitudes as well as of different artists, both known and unknown.

I hope you will enjoy the Deviations featured in this article. Comments and constructive criticism are more than welcome. Life as a bird
This section consists of pictures capturing the different facets of bird behaviour, including mating and preying, feeding, nest-building, caring of offspring and typical or curious attitudes. Please note flight was reserved a category of its own.





The ugly duckling
Be they as adorable as ducklings, or ugly hatchlings only a mother and father eagle could love, I decided baby birds deserved a category of their own. Enjoy this selection!




"You can fly"
Flapping their wings or soaring... Gliding or hanging in the air, birds have captured and inspired human imagination for centuries. In this section you will find some of the most breathtaking captures of the different ways birds have adapted to flight.

Finally, this section is dedicated to a few exquisite artworks depicting - or inspired by - birds.
