Ahh, 2008! We still may be celebrating the finest DA had in 2007, but now it's time to celebrate the first normal set of Mini-DDs for 2008!...Well, er, you know, as normal as things can get around here.

Speaking of the Best Of 2007 Extravaganza, by the way, I'd just like to flat-out thank everyone out there for all of the support you've shown for it. The kind words, the faves, the voting...There was a damn huge amount of it! And that was all just in less than a friggin' week!! I mean, I expected a good amount of support to build over a few weeks, but all of this! Wow!!! So to all of you out there who have played (or will play) a part in all of this, I thank you from the bottom of my freaking heart! Thank you so much!!

...And after all of that, it kind of bums me to point out that there was a bit of an error in the whole thing. See, in the madness of creating it all, I accidentally made a bit of a mix-up...One of the featured deviations, How To Raise A Theif by *j3concepts, was accidentally credited with the wrong name & artist. Whoopsie. Well, my apologies to both the artist & all of you!

Now, there's another Extravaganza-related thing I wanted to share with you all as well. One of the little twists I included was that you could earn extra chances at a subscription prize & an award by creating your own little "Best Of 2007" feature. And with the first batch of them in, I have to say, they are really well done! In fact, I really can't wait until the end ceremonies to share them all with you! Oooh, but I'm going on too much about the Extravaganza here. Let's get on with the actual Mini-DDs already! And there's a bit of a theme this week: A mix of "Great prospects for 2008" & "Why the Heck didn't I feature this amazing stuff from 2007?"

...My little prestigious token of appreciation for anyone who created some amazing, DD-worthy artwork. Plus it has a delicious milk chocolate center! And this week's secret ingredient? Peanut butter & caramel! Yay!

Alright now, on with the show! Here's this week's Mini-DDs...



Okay, this may mark the third time I've featured ~renata-young's character here in some kind of form...But can you blame me when she makes him the focus of such amazing Deviations as OC Contest: Lulu-Bunny? Fiery colors, cool poses, an excellent style, & of course, lovable & creative characters. After all, a satanic bunny doll? How can you resist something like that?



Funtime by ~incogburo...It just seemed as though there was some kind of sign that I should feature this here. Anyhow, thanks to a funky & original style, nice & bright colors, a sweet little character design, & a cheerful, joyous mood (after all, who doesn't love ice cream?), this drawing stands out as one lovely little Deviation that deserves a spot in everyone's faves.



For some reason, a lot of "s" words seem to come to mind when I look at Jug Spirit by *stplmstr: Sexy, stylish, sweet, slick, superbly (colored), um, sinful, er...Alright, so that's all I have right now for "s" words. So I'll just say that this is one cool & creative Deviation that perfectly shows off the artist's skills & deserves all the praise it can get (ooh, I could've used "skillful"...).



+Nymph in the Great City+ by *Adept-eX is, simply put, a delightful & innovative twist on a piece of Pokémon fan art. Featuring bold, striking colors, several cool little "urban" details, a creative concept behind it all, that adorable expression, & possibly several other fine touches I'm forgetting, I just dare you to not end up loving this.



=CricketKitty's cool & unique creations are always quite a sight to behold, like the ones in The Wrath of Dr. M. The cartoon mad scientist & his bumbling underlings are lovable enough, but throw in a sweet style, some great usage of red & black colors, & a layout that really gives it a whole feeling of intimidation, & you definitely have yourself a winner!



An interesting & creative take on the classic concept of "Big Brother", Uncle Sammy by =Childofthewild666 is a creepy, cool, intense & colorful piece of satire that really gets its point across thanks to cool little details such as the simple & twisted smiley face & the blood-like splatters. It all definitely makes for one awesome poster indeed...



fruity gangsta by *clintonheimer...Because anything featuring anthromorphic fruit gangstas inspired by Jet Set Radio simply just has to be pure awesomeness. With a cool character, cool style, cool colors, & (surprise) an overall cool feeling, this is one simple & fine drawing that deserves all the attention it can get.



Being a bit of a Magic: The Gathering geek myself, I couldn't help but fall in love with Hystrodon by *Fyreant. Wicked & creative creature design, amazing style, lovely, warm colors with a perfect "nature" feel to them, & a nice little bit of action included to really sell it all...Plus the card itself just plain rocks, so why not, bonus points for that.



~Meowtwo's gallery is just chock full of so many wicked & cartoonish character designs that it was nearly impossible to pick just one to feature here. But Weed Killer won out in the end thanks to the lovable & cool characters, the sweet style, the lovely touch of action, & a nice little bit of humor. Simple yet sweet, this is a fun little drawing by one very talented artist.
