Sex and sexuality in art are some of my favorite things, and certainly sometimes arousal is part of this, but more importantly, it is FAR MORE than about simple arousal, as porn is. One of my deviantart friends, :iconcypherthepanicartist: , said that art of a sexual nature can “ provoke thoughts about our dreams, fears, desires, and place in the world"...yes! Well done art that deals with sex exposes the soul of the subject or act in question, not just the naughty bits. I feel that any kind of work on this site that looks at sexuality in a thoughtful or artistic or critical or celebratory, etc. way is certainly appropriate content for an art site, because, of course, this work is actually ART.

Photobucket Copyright Concerns and Petition

=Mercuralis:iconMercuralis: reports, January 15, 2008
Swing by PlagiarismToday.com and read this article by Jonathan Bailey: Artists Express Concerns Over Photobucket.

Jonathan, with the help of artist Sandi Baker, has started a petition to help convince Photobucket to revise its services to help protect artists' copyrights.

Many Deviant artists' work has been reposted on Photobucket. Do a search on Photobucket.com for your deviantart user name to see if your work has been stolen. If you find your work there, follow the guidelines posted here to have it removed: Photobucket Copyright Information. Try searching for titles as well, since often the artist's name is removed from the file. If you find your work posted in a gallery, be sure to check out the rest of that gallery for possible other infringed artwork.

One of the major concerns for artists whose work has been copied on Photobucket is that anything posted in a public photobucket album is available to be printed. This includes personal photos as well as infringed artwork. If you have a Photobucket account, you may want to consider setting your album to private.

If you, like me, are concerned about copyright protection for artists and photographers, please consider signing the petition. It's about damned time we started standing up for ourselves as a group, and not just as individual artists against the world.

HI There, I followed your guidelines and found images posted under both my DA name and my real name. I am in the process of completing the copyright infringement form. Unfortunately I don't have time to search for images by name ...... All of my images are watermarked, seems its not a deterrant though! Thank you for bringing this to the attention of the community, I will be signing the petitionm, Pam

I've had my work ripped onto photobucket about 2 dozen times. They always respond to my DMCA requests by taking it down. I just wish they'd take more action (i.e. ban!) the image-stealers. There's not enough disincentive right now - image-stealers are hardly likely to get caught at all, never mind lose a free account, or suffer any consequences.

It makes me want to hire my very own Hulking Goon(tm) to send around to "clarify" things for people.

That hasn't changed since ancient times.
