HotLits the Seventh!

`Beccalicious:iconBeccalicious: reports, January 21
Welcome everyone to the 7th Edition of HotLits! For those unfamiliar to HotLits, this is a weekly news article showing you all what is new and hot in literature! The selections of deviations chosen have all been submitted in the past week, and are just a mere slice of the world of writings!

In HotLits #6, another one of the feature pieces achieved a Daily Deviation! This was There is a place by ~LittleLottexo and is a truly beautiful fantasy style piece, now with over 200 favourites! Well done to ~LittleLottexo for submitting such a quality piece, especially at only 15 years of age!

The post New Year enthusiasms have quietened down a bit in terms of submissions, but that still doesn’t mean I haven’t found some delightful pieces for you to check out. So without any further rambling from me, here are the HotLits for edition number 7!

:icontightwhitepants:
The Lady of Shallot by *tightwhitepants

If Monty Python were to take some classic poems and put their own twist on them, the result would be this wonderfully humorous rendition of Tennyson’s ‘Lady of Shallot’. Considerably well written, *tightwhitepants has not just wrote a funny poem, but considered the language, the style and the meter in an intricate and admirable way.

:iconxxshadow-poetryxx:
Slaying the Dreamer by ~xXShadow-PoetryXx

You have to admire this poem for its interesting style and beautiful imagery. This has a feeling of a deep romantic piece full with vivid intense red colouring and profound love.

:iconwordworks:
Oxford by *wordworks

If you haven’t heard of *wordworks before, you need to be slapping her on your watchlist and reading her submissions. This is just one example of her decent prose work, and one in tribute to `GeneratingHype.

:icondaiichi:
If I die before I wake by ~Daiichi

This may not be the best written poem, but what it does offer is something different and a really interesting perspective on dreams. There are some lovely individual lines and images create throughout, and with polishing this has brilliant potential!

:iconfllnthblnk:
Only Acquaintances by *fllnthblnk

At first this poem seems really angry, but as it runs through there is a sad sentiment about friendships running throughout. *fllnthblnk is clearly writing from the heart in this poem, and the effect is something many others will relate to. (MC)

:iconamberlouie:
Separation by *Amberlouie

The reason this is in here is because *Amberlouie has provided an excellent example of what happens when you take good critique on board and then use that critique to reproduce you work. The result is a much clearer, stronger and polished piece, and one which is simply beautiful.

:iconwildmonky:
Dennis by =wildmonky

We finish this weeks edition with a work-in-progress prose piece by =wildmonky. This is an excellent beginning to something that leaves you wanting to encourage =wildmonky to continue writing this, just so we have a conclusion. Wonderful introduction and descriptions too!

There are some sad individuals on this site, whose misanthropy and low self esteem lead them to embrace negativity, and by denigrating the actions of others seek to minimise their own sense of inadequacy...

...but that's enough about me, let's flush out the bastard who rejected your news item!
^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: Jan 24, 2008, 6:55:22 AM
Seriously, don't worry about it so much, Becca. Someone rejected my Lit Crit Contest article as well, and while it was annoying, I realise that there are quite a few others who have faved it and offered their support in many ways. Although I don't care for the anonymity of it, I suppose there has to be a way of allowing people to express their dissatisfaction, and it's valid too. Only if there was an inordinate number of rejections would I worry about whether I'm doing something terribly wrong.

It's not that I am worried as such, I know it isn't personal, but it just would be nice to have some feedback so you can work on that feedback. :)
