Recognition of a Few Talented But Unknown Artists

*ElwynEllessar:iconElwynEllessar: reports, January 21
How can a talented artist go unknown for a year or more on DA? Well, part of the answer is because we tend to be so wrapped up in our own little worlds that we forget to step outside of our boundaries and take notice of the world around us. I'm as guilty as everyone else. I get so caught up in my artwork and things going on in my life, that I forget about everyone else. Recently I woke up and decided I had been far to long wrapped up in myself and started to look around DA and find some new exciting artists.

Those of us who feature other artists, and quite a few members of DA regularly feature artists, have a tendency to not look deep enough into DA to find those artists who are so talented, but never recognized. It takes a lot of time and effort on our part to search them out. We have to look through a lot of artwork, delve into each others favorites gallery's, use the DA's search engine, and just plain and simply get creative in order to find these artists. Now, I've been guilty of occasionally featuring an artist who is already well known, and that's because they have produced some recent incredibly awesome art. However, I do try to find the lesser known artists who deserve more attention than they receive.

In my recent search, I found three such artists to feature. All of them have less than 1200 page views (or at least did when I featured them) even though their artwork is wonderful and they have all been members of DA for a year or slightly under a year! This is shameful!!! These artists should have many, many more page views! I hope all of you readers will visit their galleries and give them some support and encouragement!

Brad has been on DA for a little over a year now and has not had the recognition he deserves. Only 732 page views!! Can you believe it!!

He works in watercolor, inks, acrylics, graphite and colored pencils. I absolutely love his tigers!! Great artwork Brad! I hope you post some more real soon!

Brad is making an effort to help out endangered tigers by making his artwork into prints and donating a percentage of his proceeds to various conservation groups to support their efforts in tiger conservation and educational programs in Asia and around the world. A wonderful cause indeed.

Here are my favorites of his:

Angelique has been on DA for almost a year now and has only a little over 1,100 page views! Incredible, especially considering she has 89 deviations and her artwork is quite good!

She has a variety of work in her gallery, including realism and Anime/Manga. She uses colored pencils, watercolor pencils, and acrylics. You really need to check it out!!

I love Angelique's simple, yet effective technique in her artwork. Be sure to look at her artwork in full view and you'll see what I mean!

Here are my favorites of her work:

Kristen is an art student, still in her teens, and quite a good artist!! She has just celebrated her one year anniversary on DA, has 35 deviations, and a mere 468 page views!

The "concentration series" she did shows great ability and technique with pencils. For example, one of her pictures below depicts clementines in a bowl with clear, reflective balls. She captured the clementine skin texture & highlights, and the reflections in the balls next to it so accurately! Her candy cane drawing was an incredibly difficult and complex drawing indeed, and she succeeded so beautifully in depicting the reflections of the candy canes in the balls!

Kristen also has a variety of work in her gallery, including writing and photos as well as artwork. She works in colored pencils and graphite. I love her choice of medium! :D

Here are my favorites of her work:

So everyone, now that you have seen just three artists here who are talented yet unknown, please go search out some more and feature them so they have a chance to get the recognition they deserve!!

Have a great day everyone and keep on creating art!! :D

Nancy

I agree. I've notice some good talent here and couldn't figure why they had so few pageviews. It all became clear when I looked at how much they were commenting on other artist's work. They weren't!

I guess it is time for me to do another feature. :)

Wow great features!!
The thing is, I didn't know those artists already which was great! And refreshing too lol.
Thank you.
