Basics
Every art expression is rooted fundamentally in the personality and temperament of the artist.
Hans Hofmann
Expression is a vivid representation of meaning, sentiment, or feeling..
It's a significant and impressive indication, whether by language, appearance, or gesture with that manner or style which gives life and suggestive force to ideas and sentiments.
In aesthetic theory, a popular view is that a work of art derives its effect by expressing the feelings of its creator. The view that this is their value was forcibly presented by Croce and Collingwood and probably strikes many artists as correct. It raises the problem of the existence, and nature, of these feelings before they take shape in words, painting, or whatever other medium is chosen.
All truth is simple... is that not doubly a lie?
Friedrich Nietzsche
In this case simplicity is not exactly a lie, but lead us to multiple errors.
Considering the senses as interfaces for acquisitioning feelings and such, the deduction would be: arent they as subjective as any kind of self-opinion or thought ? more than that arent they influenced, manipulated, controlled ?
All credibility, all good conscience, all evidence of truth come only from the senses.
Friederich Nietzsche
Criticism
Nothing has such power to broaden the mind as the ability to investigate systematically and truly all that comes under your observation in life.
Marcus Aurelius
Observation is a powerful way to gain knowledge. It is also very subtle, as you pick things up you may not even think about.
But is that called knowledge ? Is reality, as we perceive it, a discovery ?
Despite the importance of the senses for life, science, and knowledge of all variety, much about the senses remains obscure.
Is it possible to talk about expression without mentioning aesthetics? And is it possible to talk about aesthetics without mentioning beauty?
Aesthetics by definition is a guiding principle in matters of artistic beauty & taste, the artistic sensibility.
What if the principles and all those common feelings towards art, this sensibility falls under the only principle that principles are a fruit of our mind & all those consequences we fear are in front of us, provoking the self to doubt of every thought passing through every little piece of observation, then of interpretation.
In an extended point of view, artists unconsciously observe things, present them & admit that theyre the only truth they seek.
Usually, we dont discuss this fact with our inner selves. The fact of being this kind of individual, creating from nothingness or even under any sort of emotional influence or social circumstances: the pure self represented in every piece, recreated into another dimension, becoming a reality to the eyes of the passionate watcher, a memory of another self visible to all, and sometimes not consciously present for the artist himself.
A few observations and much reasoning lead to error; many observations and a little reasoning lead to truth.
Alexis Carell
Art of Observation & Observation of Art
Observations are more than the mere causal impact of external physical stimuli, since such stimuli only give rise to observations in a properly prepared and receptive mind. Nor are they well thought of in terms of atomistic impressions.
Observation seems to require the use of cognitive powers of classification and memory in tandem with the use of the senses.
In a correlation with Kants famous remark: thoughts without content are empty, intuitions without concepts are blind in Critique of Pure Reason.
The whole world, as we experience it visually, comes to us through the mystic realm of color. Our entire being is nourished by it. This mystic quality of color should likewise find expression in a work of art. In nature, light creates the color. In the picture, color creates the light.
Creation is dominated by three absolutely different factors: First, nature, which works upon us by its laws; second, the artist, who creates a spiritual contact with nature and his materials; third, the medium of expression through which the artist translates his inner world.
When the impulses which stir us to profound emotion are integrated with the medium of expression, every interview of the soul may become art. This is contingent upon mastery of the medium.
Hans Hofmann
It takes concentration and focus, & an ability to bring all your senses to bear in your observation.
The only pre-existent art is the faculty to reflect the world, reproduce the senses.
Observation is socially exhausted by others eyes projecting our considerations into common logical errors and sensitive speculations, major consequences of influenced opinions mixed with emotions.
The simple deduction to be considered here is primarily the full respect of all forms of artistic expression whether it does concern our interest or not.

Art is only and only an intoxication of the soul.
Art raises its head where creeds relax.
