I've noticed recently that a few of my friends are posting journals regarding theft of their artwork, notably by users of Photobucket. I was contacted only a couple of days ago by a very kind deviant who alerted me to to the fact that one of my deviations was in someone's Photobucket album. She also sent me the link.

To be honest, at first I was quite flattered, because it was one of my earliest pieces , but then I realised it's not just MY work - the work of several stock artists went into the making of it - so .. I looked into how to get this removed.

I went through the proper channels, and the image was removed within an hour of my contacting Photobucket!

If you have discovered some of your work in someone's Photobucket album (one way to find out is to type your user name into the search engine on Photobucket), just follow these instructions:

Send an email to:

abuse@photobucket.com

Head it - COPYRIGHT ISSUE

Give them the link(s) to the Photobucket image(s)
Give them the link(s) to your original artwork
You must include your address and telephone number

Add the following text:

I hereby state that I have a good faith belief that the disputed use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law (e.g., as a fair use).

I hereby state that the information in this Notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of the copyright or of an exclusive right under the copyright that is allegedly infringed.

Then scan in your SIGNATURE and attach it to the email as a JPEG
