For those who have remotely or no idea what I'm talking about, Video Art is a type of audiovisual art and art movement, that was born in the 60's and makes use of mainstream imagery and sound, but should not be confused with experimental cinema or video.

Video Art is different from Film, because Video Art doesn't strictly need to make use of performers or characters, dialogues, or does not necessarily tell a story or has a plot or intends to narrate a story, like Film does. It's a more abstract use of the media or a an exploration of it and its boundaries.

Video Art comes in two forms:

Video Installation: the audiovisuals (multiple or not) are placed within a context, and they interact with a wide variety of (artistic or not) objects, such as traditional media, creating a whole interrelated environment, or

Single-channel: closer to a television broadcast, a video is screened on a sigle display.

There are two reasons for this article:

The first one is I am recruiting now Video Art makers for a project. If you are one or know one, send them my way!

The second one is the comments some Video Arts featured recently Daily Deviation have received. As said, Video Art is not necessarily used to send out a message or has plot. It's the exploration of media itself and unlike experimental or abstract Film, might not be conceptual or literal.
In the case of Video Art that has been part of an Installation, we also understand that Internet submission doesn't support for the upload of the context or the rest of the elements conforming the environment, but this new digital hosting for Video Art is having a great impact in its development, and hopefully we have more Film Artists exploring this beautiful form of art.
