you know there was this anime i saw an ep of, some weird one where a Vampire was working for this human chick (not helsing) and his vampire ex gf shows up and gets into a HUGE catfight with the human chick, hair pulling, wrestling, ripping off of clothes, ESPECIALLY ripping off of clothes. and the translation was going pretty well untill the clothes ripping, as soon as boobs popped out the translation went all to hell. now i'm not talking innacurate translations where they said something i wouldn't have said, i'm talking total brain freeze translation "you...? AH fishhead..in the butt...ok?" kinda thing. the fansubbers were CLEARLY too distracted to translate properly

Personally i agree with the fansubs. I dont actually buy that many series which are realeased on DVD here as its expensive and i prefer the quality of the translation done by fansubbers. On top of that, many of the series dont get licensed here.
If you think about it, we're actually buying something that most Japanese people watch for free anyways. Though i do understand we are paying for the translators and license. (meh, leave that aside for now.)
Anyways, to show my support for the market outside of Japan i buy the manga which gets translated here.
Though to be competely honest i'm not that bothered if the market grows outside of Japan or not.

Anime/manga industry is DYING. Why? Piracy, that's why.
I am a huge anime/manga fan myself, and I sometimes find official releases to be not enough. I download fansubbed series alright, and scanlated manga as well.
However, if I liked the series I'll buy the original DVDs and manga.
To me nothing beats the feel of the paper, or the quality of the original DVD so it's just natural for me. Sadly, it's not the same for many... and they'll actually buy DVDs and such of the fansubbed episodes thus slowly killing what they like so much (and not only the market of the country they live in, but in Japan as well since licensing is an important source of profit).
Sad, sad... but true.
