When I open up Winamp to my 5k+ songs, I always look forward to the inspiration and ideas that flood me from it. Every song, doesn't matter what it is, gives me an idea, even fleeting. Music is my number one art-inducer. I get little music videos playing in my head. It gets me pumped.

There is no way I can be the only one that does this.

I, like any other artist, also go through my huge slumps where no matter what I do I can't seem to churn a single thing out that is even remotely decent. I have the inspiration dwindling in my head, but it usually needs a good shove. New music? Favorites? Does it pretty well. Several things can help overcome it. Regardless, one of the best, is a good challenge. A finish line that you can see laid out, but yet, wait! Still be fun. And all helped along by music.

So I've had an idea floating in my head for a while, built on that, a sort of community project for dA.

Thus, I want to propose to you, anyone on my Flist, visiting, redirected, Deviantart in general; The DA Soundtrack Project. Or [DA OST]


The premise is simple. What I'd like to see you all do is take TEN of your most well-loved, inspiring songs, and draw/photograph/manipulate/artistically render a full piece dedicated to each. Can't pick ten? Do more, do less. Then submit it in, throw in [DA OST] in your title, or somewhere, (and link to the song as a youtube, or include the lyrics, in your comments. So we can know what inspired you of course~) and then note it my way! If theres a high enough volume, I'll make a separate account to hold all of the links to the entries, and favorite them all. Make a DA-Jukebox of sorts! Will this idea take off? Who knows. Even if its just my close friends and watchers that participate, then I'll feel this is successful. If it helps you overcome an art block? Great! Just that little push would mean the world.

Art should never be a chore, it should be something you love and enjoy. Never forget it! Music and Art go hand in hand with each other, lets try to entwine the two a bit further~
