`GeneratingHype on letters, editing and GDship

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, August 30
An interview with ex-GD, writer, editor, fascinating person: `GeneratingHype. Here are some tidbits from the interview (which I recommend reading in full):

"Letters presuppose a sort of authenticity, and I truly believe that a story—no matter the form—needs to be authentic and believable.

"Sometimes I wish I had stories such as "I wrote my first published poem at three and a half!" or "I started writing stories at two!", but writing never came easy for me and is still not very easy for me.

The Use of Adverbs in Fiction Writing

=DarcKnyt:iconDarcKnyt: reports, August 29
Adverbs are the endangered species of the adult fiction world. They're frowned on like putting a Baby Ruth bar in a punch bowl at a wedding reception -- not a good idea. They're also indicative of weak writing ... but why? This article covers why adverbs are evil and what you can do to avoid using them.

Overlooked Poets

~DreamHazer:iconDreamHazer: reports, January 30
As a person struggling to be a writer, I think it's incredibly important to give recognition to the good poets out there on deviantArt! Therefore, I've decided to publish this news story to get a few names out there that I think are worth checking out.
Torukero
Torukeru is a surprising poet, who always catches me a little off-guard with his work. It's usually simple, but packs a surprisingly powerful punch. Like most poets, he his work has some good, some mediocre, but his gallery is worth a look nonetheless! I recommend Icarus, which was my introductory piece to Torukeru, although his gallery has much more to offer!
Xiangrei
Xiangrei is a deviant I've only recently come across, but his work is impressive. Much of his poetry takes a moment to draw you in, but after you're done you have compelled to go back and read it again! It manages to lure you into its grasp when you're least expecting it and, soon, you've found something new to enjoy. I recommend I want to..., a poem not without its flaws, but with some ensnaring element that is completely unexpected at the start.
SheerieTheFay
SheerieTheFay only has a couple poems up on deviantArt currently, but she's worth encouraging! As her profile description suggests, she is a "Deviant of Many Talents", with a strong focus on photography, but her poetry is breathtaking. I recommend Daimon.
dgenreteliterabbit
Dgenreteliterabbit...with a name like that, the poetry gallery is much what you might expect. It has a mix of the good and the not-so-good, but the offbeat flavor is worth a taste, even if it turns out not to be your cup of tea. I recommend Detritus
Saartha
Saartha is last not because she is the least...she could probably top the list in consistency and productivity, if nothing else. However, as the recipient of a DD, she isn't fully overlooked. That said, her gallery still seems to get for fewer hits than it merits, in my opinion! It is filled with wonderful, thought-provoking poetry. I recommend Daedalus, not because it is her greatest work (in her gallery, it is quite possible she has even better gems hidden within), but by merit of being her most recent and being named after my favorite mythological persona of all time.

I hope you give these poets a gander, and boost support to the writing community hidden within dA!
