I have a scam story to share that might affect some of you out there.
I was recently contacted by a South African Ad Agency named "The Hardy Boys". They found a picture of mine on Deviant Art (I'm sure they found it here because of the border/title) and they wanted to purchase a high res image to use on some folders they had designed. I quoted them a price, high enough that would deter any unprofessional types. I was suspicious at first, but when they accepted the offer, I decided to go ahead, until they asked for my bank account information, so they could send me payment. I recommended that we use paypal. To make a long story short, after numerous emails back and forth, from a total of 7 different people at this company, phone calls to my home AND work, full of excuses, that they were unable to use PayPal, OR Western Union, and they needed my bank account information, that they needed my social security number and other information, I decided to call the FBI. The full details of this have been reported to the FBI and the Internet Crime Complaint Center (
[link]) Since the image was found here on DeviantArt, and because of the relatively large number of young members, I felt it was a good idea to let all of you know about this. Keep your eyes open, and never ever give anyone any bank details or social security number online, or by phone, if you are at all unsure. Use the Internet Crime Complaint Center if this has happened to you, even if you have not lost any money or property.
