Weekly Help Desk Updates - February 1st, 2008Introduction
Welcome to the weekly Help Desk news. In these weekly updates we will attempt to bring you the most up to date information, as well as provide some helpful hints for super duper deviantART fun.

Collections is alive and booming, now we need to put the BOOM in the FAQ. If you are a user of collections or have come across some frequently asked questions on collections, please drop a line below in the comments section for what you would like to see added to the FAQ in regards to this beautiful feature!
In other FAQ news this week, the yearly faq spring cleaning will take place this year sometime in March.
In response to the guides promised three weeks back, do not worry they're still coming, they're just on hold for the moment due to a small backlog on my end.

Do you have any special extensions for your browser? If so this article contains information to keep in mind if you ever run across any bugs here on deviantART. Extensions also referred to as user-scripts or add-ons can add features and tools to your browser to enhance your online experience entirely such as an adblock extension or only affect your experience with a particular website such as deviantART only extensions.
While extensions can enhance your online experience they can lead to some disadvantages which can be seen especially in deviantART only extensions. Because these extensions are not produced by deviantART they can lead to some accidental malfunctions of the site especially with the submission process.
Even extensions that have nothing to do with deviantART can affect your browsing experience. Adblocker extensions have also been known to prevent deviations with the word Ad in their deviation title from showing up.
If you have any extensions and are experiencing any issues with using deviantART we highly advise that you first try turning off all of your extensions to see if one or more may be causing a conflict. When extensions are turned off and the issue still occurs then it is not due to extensions; however, if this appears to solve your problem it is a result of extension use.
If your issue stops occurring when you extensions are disabled you can turn your extensions on and then try to narrow down which extension or combination of extensions appears to be causing the issue. If you find out that an extension is causing interference with your dA experience it is a good idea to notify the creator so they are aware of any issues their extension may be causing.

Jenn, I heard the little * in front of my name means I'm super extra special and $lolly will bake me cookies every other Tuesday. Is that true?Dear deviant, while we're all super extra special here the little * in front of your username simply indicates you as a paid subscriber, meaning you get to take advantage of all the awesome subscriber
perks. While these perks don't include warm homemade Lollycookies, you're still super extra special. So, what do all the little symbols in front of our usernames mean anyway?
FAQ #106: What are the symbols in front of each deviants nickname? That's helpful, thanks! I see all the staff symbols there. But I don't know who is all on the deviantART staff. Where can I go to find you guys? There's an official listing of us on the
About page. A fabulous unofficial listing of all the current and former staffers and volunteers and their symbol history can be found at *
stafflist. And we don't bite (well, $
damphyr does but she rarely draws blood) so if you ever want to get to know us individually don't hesitate to give us a visit and say hi!
I'm pretty sure I'd be a good staffer. What do I do if I want to join the deviantART staff?Bear in mind that the staff manager is responsible for choosing new staffers when they are needed. If the opportunity arises and we dive into the community in the pursuit of new staffers a news article addressing it will be written. Please don't contact us here at the
Help Desk to request to be on staff. As always, if you have a question and can't find the answer in the
FAQ let us know at the
Help Desk and we'll resolve it as quickly as
possible.

Need #help or the Help Desk at all?
Just for anyone who wants to use Firefox without any extensions, here's a simple way to do it.
Go to the start menu, go to the Mozilla Firefox folder, click to open it, and you'll see two programs. Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). If you close any open Firefox window, and click the Safe Mode one, you will start with no extensions/scripts. Pretty much a normal Firefox as if you just installed it. Just be sure not to click any of the check boxes since those will permanently disable them when you open the regular Firefox again.
From there you can see if the problem persists. Then you have the fun job of disabling each one individually to see which one is causing the problem.
