Did you know that there are multiple Photography GDs?
There are nine specialized photography GDs and then two that oversee the rest of the media.

They focus a lot of their time not only moving miscats but searching for new and exciting work to feature as DD’s or in journal features.
When it comes to dd’s, photography is busy. ^equivoque gets something on the order of FIFTEEN DD notes a day. Needless to say picking daily deviations from that haystack is time consuming.
On what is looked for in a DD, ^equivoque had this to say:

The first thing I look for in a dd is that it be in some way original (i.e. not stereotypical). This spans all genres. The next thing i look for is probably technical merit (as related to the type of camera used). Then, I look for strong composition. Activity is another thing I look for in some shots. Quality of black and white (conversion, if digital) and color are also strengths I look for. I look for color that has been done well. An overall quality I look for is whether the photograph stands primarily on its strengths as a photo. If it relies more on post-processing for its presentation, I am less interested in it.
