`SparrowSong on writing, critique and her passions

^lovetodeviate:iconlovetodeviate: reports, September 28
An interview with writer, critic (critiquer?), lit senior, `SparrowSong. Here are some tidbits:

“I like that my passions change. If nothing else, it gives me more to write about.”

“Everyone has heard the expression, ‘Give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.’ If you don’t learn to critique, you will always be dependent on others to help you instead of being able to do it by yourself.”

“Art changes how we view the surface of the world to reveal truth or beauty—or both—underneath.”

READ THIS MAGAZINE: Good news for writers!

~ReadThisMagazine:iconReadThisMagazine: reports, February 4
READ THIS magazine is about to go to print with Issue IV, and we're pleased to tell you that we have plans to branch out and take over the world!

BIGGER, BETTER, MORE BEAUTIFUL
We're hoping to add an extra four pages per issue to READ THIS, so that we have more space for all your awesome writings. Not only that - the team is negotiating an increase in the print run -- hopefully, for twice as many copies. We're also aiming to step up the paper-quality and graduate to glossy covers... because they're pretty.

ADVERTISING FOR AWESOME PEOPLE
READ THIS is currently not-for-profit. The magazine is printed by the English Lit Department of the University of Edinburgh, and with assistance from the Forest Free Press. However, the magazine is currently making a loss!
In order to help READ THIS and help you, we're offering cheap advertising space on the back-cover of the magazine. We'd like to promote literature and the arts where possible - so if you have a magazine, exhibition, collection, pamphlet or event you want to advertise, drop us a note or email us via submissions@readthismagazine.co.uk

SUBMIT YOUR SUBMISSIONS, SUBMITTERS
As always, READ THIS is on the lookout for good-quality writing from new, young and emerging writers. We now consider writing from any genre, including drama -- and if you have a literature-related article or a book review you're particularly proud of, feel free to send that too. We pay in magazines if your work is chosen -- we pay in constructive criticism if it isn't.
We don't care where you're from, or what age you are/pretend to be -- if you're a good writer, we'll publish you. It's that simple.
More detailed submissions guidelines can be found at [link]
Send your work to submissions@readthismagazine.co.uk

MAKE A READ THIS WRITER SMILE
Go check out the work that's currently featured on our website [link], or have a look at our *ReadThisMagazine gallery. You can also go and hassle the team (*TheObviousChild ~tangerinedreams ~IAmAScientist ~Elentari-86 ~Struco and ~leonart) -- in particular, go and wish Lucy (~tangerinedreams) and Leon (~leonart) Happy Birthdays around 20th February!
