ARTAU

A house located in a small village Izel, in the Belgian "Gaume", on the southern slope of the "Semois" valley. The place offered a nice viewpoint on the valley, from there the idea to build a kind of "belvedere" house (with large windows). The house is made of one unique building, built parallel to the contour lines. The frontages are made of voids and full spaces. A carport is integrated in the construction. The latest is shut by a sliding screen wall used by night as a light diffuser for the entrance. A dry masonry side wall leads the visitor. The structure as well as the outside walls are made with wood!

On a sloop, near the city Malmedy and the little village Chôdes, a glass box is hanging through an arch in cedar, from the living rooms you have an incredible view on the nature around. The structure and the ouside walls are made with wood. The dialog with the surrounding nature is the motor of the concept. This house is made with ecological thoughts.

On the same sloop are 7 constructions designed by the same architects. This is another example, where wood is combined with the typical stones from Wallonie.

Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.
And a large group of professionals built the Titanic.
