Nude as the News - What is it about?
This is the 3rd Nude as the News - a series of News Articles related with the Artistic Nude gallery. This first number presented you the DDs from 2007 and the second presented you the DDs from January 2008 as well as the Artistic Nude Featured Deviant of January 2008.

This series was designed to work as a memo for those who sometimes miss the wonders that frolic the AN gallery.
If you have any suggestion please note or email me with the link and thumbcode for the suggested deviant/deviation.
In the subject put "Nude as the News" or I'll think you are suggesting a DD instead - although it might happen that I love a suggestion for this series of articles so much that I DD it!
There's something about tension...
Through this article* Terence Wright invites the Anthropology Community and not only, to question its epistemological paradigm (Wright, 1992:31) basing his writings in the decomposition of the way the theories about photography have been through and, especially, of the apparent incompatibility between a Theory of Realism and a Theory of Convention whose notions he let us reach. He explains that before we launch ourselves into the study of photography we need to question the method and the implications of our social and historical contingencies (Wright, 1992:31), given that our current theories are immerse in the appropriation of what we judge to be its meaning, distorting our visualization of the photos of what in anthropology we name the other (Wright, 1992:31).

In his words,
the dual awareness of realism, yet at the same time non-realism creates a tension that is central to photographic representation. (Wright, 1992:28) and it is this tension between what is real and what is not; the model pose and the light, the drama added by the perfect framing and expressiveness of the body or of a body part; of a sensation; a mood... to sum up: of a story of a nude that I most look for here at dA, both for features and DDs, but also for my own third-eye pleasure!

So, todays Nude as The News features some of these kind of photos from the Artistic Nude gallery that both I and ^
arachnid15 direct. I hope you like them. If you don't, you can always suggest some to me by note!

- photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything. - -Aaron Siskind-
I couldn't say it in a better away.
