The differences between Digital Art > Photomanipulation and Digital Art > Miscellaneous.

First of all, let it be clear that no gallery is lesser than the other. This seems to be a common misconception about the Digital Art > Miscellaneous gallery. People tend to be disappointed when their deviation is moved to this gallery. No need! It is exclusively a matter of where it technically belongs. This is determined by what you have done to your work and therefore decides in which category your deviation belongs.




I will try to clear things up a bit by giving some written and visual examples of the two galleries:

Photomanipulation

These are works consisting of two or more photographic elements blended together to create something altogether new.

Digital Miscellaneous Art

Miscellaneous digital art containing a mix of various digital mediums/programs.
(Not to be mistaken with Digital Mixed Media)


Examples:
A single stock photo with texture.
(Own photography texturized; consider Photography > Darkroom > Digital for your work.
A photo which is airbrushed/retouched or otherwise smudged, drawn or painted on.
A photo which is applied Photoshop brushes/extensive texturing and similiar actions.
A single photo undergone various filters and/or prominent color changes.
A combination of techniques not clearly defined by the gallery descriptions of the other digital art forms; for instance using mainly brushes to create an image is a good example.
Animations (Note that Flash animations has its own gallery).
