*writeaway, the new group for all you budding poets and wannabe novelists, pronounces a guide to giving and receiving critique on writing, written by ~Vampiress22.

Let's keep our perspective

`davincipoppalag:icondavincipoppalag: reports, 4h 40m ago
My friend posted this in his journal and I think it's important enough that the whole world should take a moment to reflect on it. Yes..the world lost a talented performer and artist in Michael Jackson..but there are many more tragic deaths occurring daily all over the world that go unnoticed. Please give these heroes your prayers and thanks too.

DENYING THE POVERTY DRAFT-THE SOLDIER AS A SYMBOL

=whitetrashpalace:iconwhitetrashpalace: reports, July 9
The Poverty Draft, Politics, Symbols, and the inconvenience of being human.

Even in times of war, the Soldier as an individual is of no consequence. The Soldier is a symbol, a simple pawn in a culture war. The Soldier is either a villain, or a Hero. The Soldier always serves for the honor of his country, not his paycheck. The Soldier is faithful, as there are 'no atheists in the trenches'. The Soldier is Combat Arms. The Soldier is male, he married a young white girl, and he has a baby on the way, whom he has never met.

The Soldier is a romantic ideal.

ELL-OH-VEE-EE is the Movement

*PianoxLullaby:iconPianoxLullaby: reports, July 12
This is an article that holds the intent to bring awareness to pain, depression, and a lack of loving arms. Everyone has moments of grief, but not everyone can find the help they need to make everything okay again. It is important that we can bring awareness to these issues, and show the peoples suffering from these that there is still hope.

Why are we blockading Gaza, why do we fly over Gaza and take out terrorist? Because at this moment there is an eight year old boy fighting for his life after he lost his leg in a rocket attack last night, he had gone out to buy his father a birthday present! His older brother has also been hurt and his mother went into shock.

it's sad that a kid got caught in the line of fire...
but it's even sadder that you return fire at the other side.
hate for hate. that's just sad.
What, you think bombing and war is going to solve a child's pain? Revenge? no, these are not helpful. These simply fuel the fire.

Pathetic how society lavishes at the chance for blood.
I'm sure some of you out there will be pissed at me for making such a comment, but take a step back and think for a second:
What will killing bring, but more hatred?
What about the children on the other side?
What will anger breed, but more revenge?
And is revenge ours to get?

Why are WE so greedy? WE want bloodshed. WE want revenge. WE want someone to suffer...
But haven't both sides suffered enough?

as I said -Gaza is a independent country with an army and government that clearly states it would like to see Israel destroyed. But because of international pressure we, Israel, still supply the electricity that makes the rockets shot into our city's. We could invade Gaza to crack down at those attack our children, but we want to avoid the bloodshed on both sides. So we settle for taking out terrorist and with holding energy supplies.

War is ugly and unfortunately at this stage in human development it's inevitable. I hope that as a species we make it to the next stage in evolution. I'm a bit pessimistic about it, but I do hope for it. To evolve past the whole "eye for an eye" thing. The problem is that with some groups their thinking is so skewed that they think that violence IS the answer. And the main problem with that is when your group suffers enough of the other group's violence, there is only one way to try to make it stop. Obviously reasoning has had no effect. Hatred and violence has been ingrained into their way of life to send suicide bombers to kill civilians and shoot off rockets to kill whomever they can reach. How do you change people's core beliefs? I don't know other than education over time. And sometimes that still isn't enough. I see the obvious here, which I think escapes the main antagonists in this struggle. Israel is full of holy and sacred places. Not just holy and sacred to Christians and Jews, but to Muslims as well. To me this is a blatant sign from the being that created and IS everything (some label that being God) that Israel should be a place of reverence and awe, wonder and worship instead of a war zone brought about by petty jealousies and revenge driven mindsets. It's like being rubbed in everyone's noses yet they ignore it. How anyone could ignore a sign of such magnitude is beyond me. When humans can look past their noses and begin to see the bigger picture, then maybe we are evolving into what we are meant to be. Until then we seem to be a miserable, petty little race that will blow itself up before we make it that far.

there are more reasons you won't invade Gaza
But there are also more ways (some better) than bombing Gaza to stop the terrorists
