14 SONGS PROJECT - OPEN INVITATION

Hello, deviantART!

As if there aren't enough of these types of things around already, I decided to let a little idea I had loose. You're free to try this out, if you'd like.

Basically, the 14 Songs Project is a meme. And yes, it involves art.

(This is where you go; "Yay, art!", if you feel that would be a suitable reaction.)

If you know the 100 themes project, where you draw 100 pictures all relating to different themes, this will be familiar. The 14 Songs Project involves fourteen songs, your music player of choice (preferrably with a randomized playback feature), and you.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

1) Start your music player in randomize/shuffle mode.

2) Get anything that will let you write the song titles down.

3) Randomize 14 songs, writing the titles down for all of them.

4) Then, you make 14 different pictures, each somehow relating to one of the songs (writers may of course substitute pictures with written works).

5) Post the list somewhere public and keep it updated as you go.

6) When you finish, tell Vilhelmina about it, and she'll add you to her list.

7) Spread the joy! Tell your friends, your watchers, whoever you think would be interested in this.

When randomizing, if you come across a song you don't like at all, or for whatever reason don't think would be suitable to draw something related to, just skip it. This is supposed to be fun, so. ;D Try not to skip TOO many songs though, we still want to keep some kind of randomized feeling.

FAQ

Q: Is there a time limit for completing the project?
A: There is no time limit involved whatsoever. This is just for fun.

Q: Are there any rewards for those who finish?
A: You make the winner's list. You know you want to!

Q: I [insert execution of whichever artform here], which isn't mentioned in the instructions. Can I still participate?
A: Of course! Any piece of art, whichever medium, counts, as long as it otherwise follows the rules of the project.

Q: Can I use pictures already created?
A: Well, that would be cheating, wouldn't it? However, if you draw an old picture all over again and modify it somehow to suit one of your songs, then it's fine.

Q: I don't want to be on the participant's / winner's list. Do I have to?
A: Not at all. I add participants as I come across them (or when they come to me asking to be added), but if you want to be taken off the list I will do so upon request. As for the winner's list, well, if you never tell me you've finished, then you won't be on there.
