I Am A Child

reports, 16h 28m agoMy little girl is so magical. With a smile she can brighten my world. The glow in her eyes when she tells one of her stories melts away all of the day's problems and concerns. For me, having a child and being able to participate in her life, watch her grow and absorb the wonders of the world, completes me as a human being.
For my latest journal feature I am presenting a visual essay on children -- works by DA artists that beg to ask the question, "Is there anything more pure, more magical than a child?" Breaking up the photos are lyrics from Neil Young's brilliant song about children, "I Am A Child." If you want to listen to Neil's song while viewing the essay, right click on [link]

reports, February 10, 2008A few months ago I typed "photography" into the search bar on youtube. com and I was totally amazed on what I found! There are a wealth of quality instructional videos that are good for experienced and beginning photographers alike!
Some of the highlights I found:
Video: GOOD Presents: Meet the NYChildren Photography Project
Why watch it?: Photographer Danny Goldfield has set out to photograph one child from every country on Earth who must all live in New York City. Just a fascinating and ambitious project, great video too!

Why Watch? Its a nice overview of some of the greatest photographers of the last 100 years. A great introduction for any begining photographer.

Why watch it? A photography tutorial on depth of field with Shelton Muller of Total Image magazine (www.total-image.com.au). Depth of field is one of the fundemental controls every photographer must know! Great for beginners and as a refresher for experienced shooters.
