I wanna be Prom Queen and Other Popularity Tales

reports, February 12, 2008Every one is talking about this so called ¨Fair Exposure¨ thing. some of them have no clue what is this about, others are in good terms with it and there is this big grup that hate the whole thing. But the reason of the article is not to fuss anymore about this, I just want to make a point.
As I said in my Journal this is not a high school popularity contest to see who will be the prom queen. Is true that everyone deserve a shot and their 15 min of fame but this is not what this community is about. This is about showing the world what you can do, sharing your talent and your art not only showing of how many times you can be in the front page. I will love to be there myself but is not the only thing in my mind. Beside it says popular, that means you have to be popular and have a bunch of peoples following the new things you upload, and IO belive that the people that is up there every day deserve to be there because they are talented.
I´m not going to say that I like the new system , because I don´t but in defense of the staff (that I personally think is doing a great job, and no, I´m no kissing anyone ass) the system did not turn to be what they were expecting). I think is no good because I saw things up there today that scare the daylight out of me, I mean every time that I go to check on the front page I´m waiting to see really good works there and today I was disappointed. I know that it will be good to see some different category there but is not acceptable to see something that is not art getting there. I will love to be prom queen too, that means lots of peps like my work, but if I don´t get to be one of the popular kids I just put my big girl panties and I deal with it.
Have you think about this before
1.Being prom queen is not bad, but this is about art, not high school all over again.
2.For those that are defending unknown or not so popular artist…have you ever take the time to hunt them down, to try and find some new artist on DA. Have you send a DD suggestion to the gallery directors.
3.Stop the drama and think more about art, which is the reason we are here.
