I've been a 'altenative' hair freak for many many years ... I've dyed my poor hair all the colours of the rainbow! After too much abuse I decided it was time to say goodbye to the peroxide bottle and try something else less damaging.

I found (by chance) a forum for alternative hair and instantly fell in love with all the images I saw ... Inspiration overload!!!!

I'm not going to bore you all with pictures of me looking 'colourful' instead I have a selection of beautiful people with wonderful 'alternative hair'

First up, synthetic dreads ...

... Synthetic dreads are handmade using kanekalon or other heat sealing synthetic hair. the fibre is back-combed and hand rolled or twisted and set by steaming or dipping in boiling water or even using a hair dryer ... there are many talented synth dread makers world-wide.





... secondly, cyberlox ...

... Cyberlox is tubular crin, bags of crin can be bought quite easily, making 'falls' with crin is the easiest way of making lightweight hair pieces, lengths of tubular crin can be tied to hairbands or lengths of elastic/ribbon which can be tied to buns on you head ... many Cyber falls also have foam, plastic, beads along with the crin





... and lastly roving dreads.

... roving dreads are made with felted wool tops (roving), the process of felting is reasonably simple (and quite theraputic!)
