Many of you reading this have already heard the news, that our own and much loved Sherece (danceswithhorses) had passed away the other night in a fatal car accident. To many, she was known as someone you were able to go to and talk to. She was the person who was always able to set aside time and listen, no matter what it may have been. She was a motherly figure to many and rarely thought about herself and always about others. Such as the time recently, when she wanted nothing more than to make a young cancer patient happy. She created him a beautiful drawing of an armadillo which was his favorite animal. She even asked others if they had the time to maybe make one for him also. Whenever someone was in need, it was Sherece who was there. There was a time when a fellow deviant art member was in need of money to help feed their horse because they were getting low in feed and it was very expensive at the time. Although I do not know if she donated, I do know that she, being a faithful journal reader had read their story and created a journal of her own about this persons story in hopes many of her watchers (and there were many) would hear the request and be able to help in any way they could. She personally helped me through a difficult time and gave me words of encouragement that I will never forget, which I will explain later.
Sherece was always known as the Pushy Type to me, but never in the bad way. She always encouraged people to continue to do art no matter what anyone has ever said to them about it. She never wanted anyone to feel as if they were or are not good enough.
Youre at the Reins of Your Destiny
- K.S. Otts-Schlicht What she is trying to convey here is that if there is something you truly want, or to do in life that you should never lose sight of your dreams and if you work hard then your dreams can come true. It is up to you and no one else to take controls of the reins to your destiny.
I dont know why it is that the greatest people who do so much good in such little time are taken so early. But as we mourn her death, we should also celebrate her life, and how many people she was able to touch in her short life. In the words of Rachel Scott (a victim who was killed in the 1999 Comumbine High School Shootings) You Just may start a Chain Reaction. If we take Shereces life and really see how much good has come out of it, may be we to can pay it forward and someone may want to do the same. That is the type of reaction that Rachel and Sherece had dreamed about. All it takes is to just say hello to people, people who you do not normally talk to may be. If someone needs to talk, set aside some time and listen. Give people a word of encouragement. If it is on Deviant Art, take the time to look through who watches you and give them something encouraging about the art they do. You to could change someones life and be part of that reaction that both Rachel and Sherece has contributed so much to. So with this, lets all celebrate her life and the wonderful great hearted person and artist she was. She will always still be watching, and encouraging even up above. If you personally would like to share a story about how Sher was there for you or are up to the challenge. Let it be known feel free to post below. In loving memory.
