Okay, many people will say, oh no, flowers again.

But then, when my

friend `
cdaile started =
flower-club, she thought it was going to be for a very few plant lovers. But
the club now counts sooo many members and as a botanist and nature lover, I'm very happy to see that.
I will not only feature some plant photos I liked, but I will also try to draw your attention on some fact I can see many people here on dA are not aware of, be it for their poor English or not reading gallery descriptions when submitting, which is a big no-no.
Plant photos may fall into at least three categories, but are usually submitted only to Nature: Flowers and Plants. Other two possibilities are Macro: Nature and Still Life: Cut Flower & Plant Arrangement. Never heard of them? A brief explanation of each and then few features to show you what I mean.
Nature: Flowers and Plants should be the most obvious. But what does really fall into this category. In the description of the category says that it includes fungi too, although they aren't really plants mushies and lichens, and other fungi forms belong to a different kingdom and I will talk about them in separate article. This one should be focused on flowers and plants, including trees, but in the nature or gardens. Cut flowers and arrangements, as well as dried ones and such stuff is still life, not nature. Photo should be composed so that main focus is on one flower/leaf or one to several plants. Photos of trees in a row along the street or flowerbeds in a park belong to Urban & rural gallery: gardens, parks and cemeteries.
Still life: Cut Flower & Plant Arrangement, now that is the one flower admirers often forget about. I have to admit, I did not know about it when I first started on dA, but later I moved my deviations when I found out about it. So, any cut flowers, bouquets, arrangements, combinations of roses and other little thingies belong to this category. Same goes to dried flowers and plastic ones. They can't go to nature which should be obvious.
Macro: nature is also an option here. Many times macro shots are cropped out details from larger images, and ^
hellfirediva will not like that. Macro shot can show a part of the plant or a detail, but it must be photographed so that that detail, or whole flower/leaf/whatever fills the whole frame of the photo or most of it. For that, most of the time you will need a macro lens, macro rings or adapters or macro option on compacts, so that you may get close enough to your subject of interest and fill the frame. But remember not all shots taken with macro lens are macro shots, I use my macro lens for portraits and even for architecture.
Now enjoy some beautiful works I found, and be careful where you submit your work that way you don't give our gallery directors unnecessary work, so they may concentrate on important issues.
