Ok, this is quick

I just read an article with 7 good reasons you should go to an art school. It was all very nice but we do forget I think it's art we're talking about. We're artists, people with a sightly more fragile soul and a more fragile inspiration I guess. As I already commented on the article, I think there's a chance you get lost along the way. Well, I can't really tell you why, and this is what makes it crappy, but I do tell you it's true. an art school also might make you a professional but maybe it won't. What's a professional anyway? Is it the person who relies on art as his profession, while an amateur is doing it for fun? Or does the degree and all the learning and making of you qualify you while the amateur has limited knowledge and/or therefore abilities? I think the professional we all know is just marrying his art. It can be true love, but maybe passion will begin to give away for rensponsibilities to take place, and because I don't want to mention ending I'd rather close with, you never know how long it's gonna last or how's it's gonna be.
But do take a shot with the art school I guess, you can't sit on your ass, can you?

I wanted to get this out quickly so this is propably incomplete, crappy, and I do not justify my words very well, but the whole thing is so messed up itself so I think I'm ok with submitting this

Artists with the "Capital A" are seeking a place in the rarefied and market-driven gallery world. The odds of punching through are slim. Illustrators and designers appeal more to the masses, and it's not easy, but it's still easier to make a living at it.
The vast bulk and majority of work posted here on DA is philosophically oriented toward the illustration/design side of the field. That's not a criticism, but a fact easily observed in DA galleries. Thus, people on DA going to an "Art School" with its emphasis on inner expression tempered by critical theory and art history resulting in work that is deliberately Postmodern, highly abstract, and/or aggressively conceptual may find themselves very unhappy. Those same people going into a more specialized illustration/design program will probably find themselves more at home.
