My friend posted this in his journal and I think it's important enough that the whole world should take a moment to reflect on it. Yes..the world lost a talented performer and artist in Michael Jackson..but there are many more tragic deaths occurring daily all over the world that go unnoticed. Please give these heroes your prayers and thanks too.
CNN Money examines in depth the art site Etsy.com and the struggle it is currently facing to keep it's user base, fellow artist's like us on deviantART. It is a very interesting read, to say the least, and will surely raise a few eyebrows.
Gangs in the United States are not a new or recent phenomenon. Their history has been traced back to the post Revolutionary War days and originally they formed as a means of self-protection and as social clubs.
Are you depressed? Do you feel like you are a failure? Do you feel empty inside? Do you sometimes end up harming yourself, or punishing yourself in some way? Do you find yourself unable to handle stress sometimes?
This might help. Give it a read, it might change your life. It changed mine.

Everyone has their own perspective, the way we percieve things is changable and uncertain. Yet, undeterringly we see things as good and bad, beautiful and ugly. I suppose this is my perspective on that kind of sight.
He's gone now, but George Carlin was a philosopher as much as a comedian. When he told a joke, he did it to make us think, and that is why he was a such a success: he told it like it is.
Feeling depressed and angry at the world and the widespread sickness that has overtaken the human race as a whole??
Me too.
So I did a little experiment. For one week I didn't watch the news or visit any website that contains news headlines or a news ticker or any mention of current events.
This was difficult for me as I always like to keep up on current events just to be in the know and have my facts straight for when I have to argue with idiots.
But after one week of not hearing about senseless deaths, government corruption/incompetence, babies getting their faces ripped off by wild dogs, celebrity breakups, school shootings, and Britney Spears' latest breakdown...I felt at peace and and almost stopped hating the world.
When the day came to end my experiment - I went to CNN.com and within seconds was bombarded with news of parents killing their baby in a microwave, a patient killing her therapist with a meat cleaver, hundreds more civilians blown up by suicide bombers in the middle east, and the BREAKING NEWS that Britney Spears is just as fucked up as she was yesterday so the media will continue to harass and exploit her in the hope that they drive her to suicide so they'll have something real meaty to report on for the next month.
So to all the news media let me extend a heartfelt "FUCK YOU"
To the rest of you, encourage you to try my experiment and boycott the news for at least one week. If you want to keep up on the presidential race, do what I do and ask someone. I guarantee 100% that you will feel better as a whole and maybe if the media organizations stop making money of sensationalism and human suffering - they'll have to change their ways.

....you are amazing. XD I kinda HAVE to keep in touch since i'm in college and we're studying current events in writing class and such, but I WILL try the experiment at some point. The human race as a whole tends to piss me off as well. But I try to be positive and surround myself with positive things, like friends and art and video games. ^^ It's very therepuetic. (I KNOW I spelled that wrong so just kick me XP) but that's me, the ultimate optamist.XD Oh well. Well done. Very well done indeed.

Edd: Bravo, well done, Eddy! You've convinced me; your skill and expertise in mundane, misleading, and moth-ridden carnival games makes me want to throw caution to the wind and give you all my money! Eddy: .....you're making fun of me, aren't you?
AGREED! I've gotten 5 rejections on my article which ENCOURAGES NEW ARTISTS WITH HELPFUL TIPS. WTF is wrong with that?

Great experiment. I haven't watched the news in a long time. Just like you said, it's far too depressing and negative. And I am so tired of hearing about how crazy Britney Spears is. I've found a good way to get some of the more important news are shows that aren't deadly serious about everything. That way, I'm still in the loop, but they don't talk so much about the uber depressing stuff.
For celebrity news, I like The Soup. As far as the presidential race goes, I get all the information I need from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I don't do CNN, or those "debate" shows like Bill O'Reilly and Nancy Grace. I get so pissed hearing someone tell someone else that their opinion is wrong.

Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.
I enjoy keeping up with the news. Sure there are some bad things, but no one ever expected the world to be all sunshine, puppies and rainbows. Yet, there are many GOOD things in the news as well. Just tonight I read a story of a man who saved a baby's life after donating a section of his liver to him.
The good stuff is right there - you don't even have to dig.

Well as I've understood people reject because they don't agree or find that it's incorrect incomplete or bad written or it can be people who just do this for pissing. But I think that instead of just rejecting it they should at least say why and give constructive critics.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
