What we've become.

=Nikami:iconNikami: reports, February 16, 2008
Look back into the past, just a year or Two.

If you take just a small look at what deviantART was, you can see something completely different that you do today. I have been part of deviantART.com on a few different places and I have seen one common change, and that is the behavior of the users.

As I stand back and I look, deviantART interface, is changing for the better but not the users. I am not bashing on anyone when I say this but take a look at what we used to be. DeviantART was founded as a community.

Community:
com·mu·ni·ty
4.a group of associated nations sharing common interests or a common heritage

The definition states people with common interest, and many people here have a common interest, but a major problem is developing. As seen in many societies certain things are being competition to the site, complete opposite of what the site is founded on. Two major problems, page views, and the today page, both create a lot of problems. As the less popular artists are trying all they can to get up there and some of the more popular artists are tired of the attention.

The today page, advertises, new deviants, which in all reality isn't bad. Two bad features of this page, popular journals, and most viewed deviants. More competition.

If you stand back and look on the site, you can see many things changing. Art Thievery, Competition, Rants. What happened to the times when mainly everyone got along, and there wasn't a major separation line between everyone. I am tired of seeing the rants, but people complain it is deviantART's fault, no, its the users. Everyone who has ever posted even the tiniest rant, is to blame for another rant being started up.

Be the Change, take the first step. Don't leave deviantART, help it become better.

My question to you is: Where do you want deviantART to go from now on? How can we change where its going?

DA needs to be a community, right, and not some gang war.
But there isn't much to do because of the societies we live in, it's rather hard to "save" deviantart.
If we could do something it would be for the better I think, da"drama" is becoming really lame...
I agree it's because of the users and not because of deviantart itself but what can you do when whoever pisses you off and you wanna bash him up ? ._.

*feeling this :'D*

People who have no interest in art should leave... more than anyone I think.

Then again, it's a personal point of view
