INTRODUCTION

The thematic of this contest is for your work to be a political statement about what your feelings are regarding the subject of Renewability (Renewable, Recyclable, Reusable). As never before we want this contest to be a great showcase of your amazing art talent, telling something people needs to hear about! Saving the Planet is the resposability of us all, and it can start at home, in our daily actions.

Of course we are still a painting club, so please don't missunderstand, your work doesn't have to be a "poster", actually we forbid the inclusion of typography (digitally added text). Nevertheless, I know your creative minds will know how to help out a bit more by spreading the word!

The theme can be approached from any side: actual issues / prevention / political statements / etc. As long as you stick to the mediums we define in our guidelines, your work is elegible to win!

RULES AND GUIDELINES

To participate in this contest you must be a member of *painters. If you are not, don't stress, you can apply for the club, and even if we don't add you inmediately, if we have your "Join" note, that's enough.

Your entry must be a traditional painting. Allowed mediums include watercolors, oils, acrylics, inks, and some other typer of liquid or semiliquid painting mediums. For this time, and this contest only, we will also allow the inclusion of foreign objects, that stand for the recycle/reuse theme. This meaning: You can submit as entry: a painting made just from paint (as normally we submit into the club), or paint over a reused object (see this as example: [link] ) or use recycled elements as a part of the painting (see Berni’s work as example: [link] ). In any case this has to be done by hand, digital collages won’t be accepted. Please take in consideration that the works must be overall a painting, so please keep a measured inclusion of things, so it’s not simply a collage. Painting must be the predominant medium of the work. If you have doubts, please consult the club by note.

Every member can only submit 1 entry to this contest. Your entry must be a scan or a photograph of your traditional work, of at least 700 pixels of width. Take in consideration that a good photograph will help your entry show better, and try avoiding the flares (there’s a good tutorial to do it here: [link] ). You must upload your entry into your deviantart gallery and add in the description the fact that is a submission for this contest.

You must submit to the club the link to your entry in a Note under the subject “Bring Out the Trash”. In it, you must include the size, a description of the mediums you used, and an statement from you about the topic. Notes with entries that don’t follow this guidelines could be ignored since they could be moved directly to the club’s regular submissions queue list, so please write correctly the subject of the note.

DEADLINE

You have 2 months to submit your entry. This means submissions will be closed by April 17th, 2008. Winners will be announced between the 2 weeks of the closure.
