The Museum of BAD Art

~proverbialcheese:iconproverbialcheese: reports, February 18, 2008
If you ever thought that Da was full of horrible art work(Personally Im sick of all the crappy snapshots of pets and family gatherings and other crap people post here, I mean its not facebook its an art site!) Then you haven't seen anything yet! I was listening to a radio program at work and it had an interview with the staff of The MUSEUM OF BAD ART located near Boston Mass. This museum features work tht was genuinely an attempt at meaningful creativity but somehow failed completely and unintentionally (As opposed to the people who post a whole gallery of fuzzy underexposed pictures of their pet rabbit on deviantart)! The colors are often nauseating and despite obvious skill these works just leave you asking why or feeling sick. Check out the site here: [link] The gallery is worth a look although you have been forewarned....

The podcast which includes an interview with the staff of the Museum of bad art can be downloaded here: [link]

who are we to judge what is good or bad? we can't, good or bad are mearly labels people put on things, but they mean nothing but opinion or in somecases bias.

Who do they think they are at this museum?? Doing a museum like this even means that they don't understand art itself. It's about taste. If if it was about my taste, I would feature Paul Klee, Keith Haring or August Macke there, because I think they suck.

In solchen Augenblicken sehe ich immer,
was hinter dem Jäger sich breitet:
nicht etwa die frühwinterliche Landschaft
des Amagi-Berges,
sondern ein verödetes, weißes Flußbett

And I thought are you making a feature like this here on dA.
I think that would be interessting on the one hand but hard to see for the people who'll get featured in it ;).

I have thought of actually doing that. Mainly when I get sick andtired of all the bad cat photos on this site! I mean people get way too self indulgent. No one cares about your pets except you so if the photo is crappy don't post it! I just hate self indulgent art period.

Well most of the pieces have been fetched from the trash....

Most of the pieces were fetched from the trash... I can see the humor in this. I agree taste is a big part of it. But some of the pieces are very flat or poorly composed.

if your going by opinion, then techinically all art is bad, as not everyone loves the same thing.
