The Earth stood out like a big blue orb against the black background of space. At least, thats how it looked from the observation deck of the Tomekian ship.
They had known of this world for years, yet it was only recently did they decide to perform a research mission of sorts, learning whatever they can about the blue planet.
How are we so far captain?
Captain Terbias turned to the young researcher standing behind him.
Its looking hopeful Aris, he replied, The humans, while inferior in terms of technological advancement, do not seem to be war-like. I believe your suggestion of a peace treaty may actually be possible.
Aris hopped up and down in glee. She had been excited about studying the planet and the race known as humanity. She saw endless opportunities that an alliance with them could offer.
Do not celebrate just yet, came a cool voice,
eace may not be as easily found as you might think.
Aris turned, her eyes narrowing a Tomekian scientist stepped out of the shadows.
What do you mean Gema? Terbias asked.
I mean sir, Gema spoke up, That weve detected numerous gigantic lifeforms on the planets surface.
This caught Terbias and Aris attention.
You mean humanity isnt the dominant race of Earth? he asked. Gema chuckled and shook his head.
Their numbers are miniscule compared to the billions of humans that litter the planet. However, their size would make them a threat to humanity.
We have to help them! Aris quickly blurted out, her peaceful nature quickly surfacing.
And how would you suggest we do that? Terbias asked. Gema smiled.
I have a suggestion. Its clear these creatures have a hostile mindset, so, if we can lure them together, we can simply allow them to beat each other into destruction.
Aris eyes narrowed, What are you suggesting Gema? she asked, That we have them fight like some kind of blood sport? her peaceful nature clearly disproved of this idea.
Gema acted hurt, My dear Aris, I am just suggesting we allow them to widdle their numbers down greatly. The less they are, the easier it is for humanity to deal with them. We would be doing humanity a service.
A small smirk spread across his lips.
However, your suggestion for making it a sport is intriguing. We could broadcast it to everyone. Entertainment and helping humanity!
Aris felt a little stupid for suggesting it. Terbias was still uncertain.
But a battle of that size would cause incredible amounts of damage.
Well, Gema thought for a moment, Well pair them off. Two beasts fighting would cause less damage then one massive brawl.
Gemas smirk widened.
We could make it a tournament of sorts. Keep going until only one of the beasts is left!
Aris looked at Terbias almost pleadingly, hoping he could find something wrong with Gemas idea, something that would prevent such a barbaric idea going ahead.
Terbias sighed. It seems your plan is the only option we have Gema, he spoke in resignation, Im sorry Aris, but this tournament will go through.
Aris sighed sadly. Gema on the other hand clapped his hands together in glee.
Splendid! Ill make the preparations!
Terbias turned to the saddened Aris.
Im sorry, but this may be the only way.
But what if theres another? she asked. Terbias sighed.
If you can think of one, let me know.
Both Terbias and Aris failed to notice the sinister grin on Gemas lips as he left the observation deck. This is a tournament featuring contestants larger than life! Featuring clashes that you only saw in the Godzilla movies!
As you may have already figured out, you pretty much create your own kaiju (giant monster) and have them battle out in a series of devastating matches.
This tournament takes place in a parallel universe to the Godzilla movies, so I dont want anyone making any references to the movies.
The main rule regarding your entries is that your monster must be original. I do not want any Godzilla rip-offs. Dont even think about copying any of the other Godzilla monsters, because I will be checking.
The basic rules of each match are the same as any other tournament. Each of you posts either a comic or a flash of the match. The best entry wins and moves on.
Im hoping to get an even amount, but incase I get an odd amount of contestants, I will do one of the following:
-The odd monster out goes on a bi, they automatically move onto the next round.
-put three monsters together for a three way match, the best entry moves on and the other two are eliminated.
In order to enter, you must submit an audition and a reference sheet. The audition is virtually an origin story of sorts, telling us how your beat came into being. The only rule I have for this is that the Tomekians be left out of it. They have nothing to do with any of the monsters being on the planet. The reference sheet must include a clear picture and any details regarding weaknesses and abilities, personality, etc.
Judges:So far, its only me. However, anyone willing to volunteer to be a judge is welcome.
Prizes:The winning monster will be included in a prologue comic of sorts. Anyone wishing to donate any other prizes is welcome. If I come up with any prizes for second and third place, I will include them.
If you have any question, whether its about entries or anything, send me a note and Ill see what I can do.
Now, let the beating begin!
