"Afrocentrists commonly contend that Eurocentrism has led to the neglect or denial of the contributions of African people and focused instead on a generally European-centered model of world civilization and history. Therefore, Afrocentrism is a paradigm shift from a European-centered history to an African-centered history. More broadly, Afrocentrism is concerned with distinguishing African achievements apart from the influence of European people".

[link]The *artistsofcolor Project is concerned with promoting the art of and by deviants from a non-Western heritage.
Recently I read an article in a magazine and viewed a recent PBS special showing that there is proof that everyone originated in Africa and migrated to other parts of the world many centuries ago. However, this feature will spotlight several artists who heritage shows that their families left the Motherland very recently (in the big sceme of things, that is).
Afrocenrism: Art From An African Heritage is the first news article by *artistsofcolor to celebrate and recognize Black History Month here in the United States.

There are many, many, many artists at dA who are not featured here who either come from a African heritage or embraces ethnicity in their deviations and I wish I could show you a sample of all of them. Still, you can see more work by some very talented artists in the current journal features at *artistsofcolor, =thefantasim, and the *thesassysim (warning: mature content).
If you view this article before the journal features are posted, please bookmark each account and return sometime before the month is over. It would really be worth your while. Thanks so much for viewing this news article. Please click the heart above to give this it a favorite. Your support is very appreciated.
