I want to start this one out by saying that this peice is done for fun, in good fun.

We are all different but i think we each have our own special flair.

So, in honor of the fact that Deviantart is a community, im doing this feature for fun, in celebration of all the (and i use these terms loosely) punk and indie kids.


Call me cliche, or that im playing favorites, because i am. I find the deviations and deviants below very creative characters.


The fact that some of these are street photography is a testimony to the fact that there is a good degree of fascination with the "alternative" subculture.

I want this also to be about the culture and lifestyle, and i have tried to represent this as well.

Call it what you will, categorize it how you will, but its all in good fun, to celebrate the culture of being different and having fun with it, as well as the deviants who chose to photograph these deviations.

I also want to say that in this day and age, everybody wears some sort of "uniform." So while this article does feature people, culture and styles that are thought of as "different," I want to leave you with a quote from the Celebrate Diversity Month website:





"Often in looking at diversity, we focus on what separates us. We see CDM as a way of opening dialogue on both our differences and similarities, particularly in this turbulent day and age where the media headlines tend to focus on our differences and what separates us. What about what unites us? What are our common bonds? Only when we concentrate on strengthening that which connects us despite our differences, will we really understand and appreciate each other."

Hope you have fun viewing, and please remember that im not doing this to be controversial in any way. I dont want this to turn into a debate about what "punk" and "indie" are...its okay for us all to have different perceptions, and this compilation is my perception of my favorite people.
