Flowers and plants category hides another treasure that does not actually belong here, but it is written in gallery description that photos of those being should be placed in it nonetheless. Back then when I was still at the University, we had fungi covered under botany lessons too; previously, there were two groups of "plants": Thallophyta or lower plants that included fungi (mushrooms, lichens, moulds, yeast etc), algae and some other organisms, and Cormophyta that include mosses, ferns, conifers and all other beings we usually do call plants. Today, modern classification recognizes 5 kingdoms, one of them being Mycota or Fungi. This part I will give a little feature today.
As I previously said, more specialized nature clubs can be more efficient that large ones covering all subjects, and as I work with plants and lichens professionally, and plants (at least flowers) are already covered, I decided to start a little club for people who wish to share their mushie or lichen photos, drawings, paintings or any other art featuring members of fungi kingdom, be it in natural environment, or some fantasy setting. Also, many times my dear dA friend *
SmoothEyes will be able to help you identify your mushie, sometimes I could help you with lichens too.
You may visit us at ~
fungi-club, and in the meanwhile I will feature here some photos to show you variety of shapes and colours of mushrooms, lichens and some other fungi
in the club gallery you will also find some wonderful paintings and even a poem.
Enjoy, and remember: all mushies are edible, but some of them only once.

And for the end, beautiful mushroom calendar by *
