How it all begun...

Inspired by some series of articles entitled "Community Choice" I thought of doing the same, but with a twist, so 6 days ago I posted a thread in the seniors forum and the response was amazing! I asked them to enter with me in a fun way of promoting the Artistic Nudes Gallery and this News Article is the result of it - I believe that many more will come, so keep your eyes open every Monday, fellas!

The Seniors Choice

The technical skill of the photographer in these works commands respect, the kind of skill that comes from decades of hard work no-doubt. And as a nature photographer in particular I find it astoundingly eloquent how ~ericbb can make each person seem to be an integral part of the natural setting, to look as though they belong to the place every bit as much as the plants that grew there or the stones that lay there. The eloquence continues in studio work and other styles. This piece is one example of a mature eye and the ability to realize that vision, which in large part is why it has my admiration.



Impressively talented models coupled with great art direction makes *bigskystudio's gallery a honest delight to study. The photos have a way of making the viewer aware not only of the form of the body itself, but it's position within a larger space and it's relation to time as well. The extensions of it, the weight, it's movement and speed, the body becomes more then a static and statuesque form. This expands the whole impression of a scene, to the point where every inch of the composition is an important part of a dynamic flow. It is great to see work like this in which someone accomplishes such a potency throughout the whole frame.



Often browsing the AN section I see works which seem to be more about the nudity then the Art, maybe it's just a dialect I don't understand but I don't respond well to these kind of pieces. I never have to worry about seeing them in ~AlexanderB's gallery where the artistic part of the work is clearly first and foremost. Instead of being the soul focus the nudity acts as a powerfully emotive catalytic element which triggers striking pieces of art.



It does not take a finely arranged studio or large travel budget, or a range of models to collaborate with, or expensive equipment, or any of the professional trappings to make art. Art comes from inside of us, not from our gear. Professional or not we are each capable of making not just respectable art work, but great gripping art work. DA is built on this concept of giving everyone a chance to show what they can do. As a result we get to enjoy strong authentic pieces of art from such a wide range of people, ~minon-minon's gallery is just one fine example.



Artwork that is subtlety powerful and tranquil is the kind I find most inviting and am most drawn into, this goes for all styles including Artistic Nudes. To understate a beautiful thing rather then loudly shout about it is sign of respect, understanding beauty does not need your fanfare to be beautiful. Graceful work like ~visioluxus's can say so much in such delicate gestures that even theatric shots do not feel imposed or unnatural, and can drawn you in so easily as a result.

When I saw this photo, I didn't see a nude woman. I saw a passionate dancer ending a beautiful dance. I saw the lines, the curves, the shadows, and the strong emotion. This deviant's gallery is sometimes subtle, sometimes shocking, sometimes controversial, but always undeniably beautiful. His photos speak beyond nipples and into the secret desires and emotions we all have, whether we admit it or not.



Bold, energetic, alarming... =extremecapture lives up to his user name! I love this pose and the lighting that he uses to put raw emotion into the photo. This deviant's gallery is filled with both serious, emotional nude photos and fun shots that play with different ideas and angles. His versatility shows that he understands the human body and isn't afraid to use it to express whatever is on his mind.



I like to look at artistic nudes that don't rely on nudity to say something to their audience. All I can see in this photo is the model's eyes. I don't want to see more of her body, really (though the model is quite lovely). I just want to know her story. What is she feeling? Why is she looking out the window? I imagine she's longing for someone but afraid to say anything, but I think it's up to you to create your own story for this photo.



Simple, pure, innocent beauty is all that you get in this one. This photo reminds me of the lovely nude paintings of the renaissance era, when the female body was appreciated for its curves and elegance, not for its sexual appeal. The photos in this deviant's gallery are soft and sweet and relaxing, like a warm bubble bath that you never want to step out of.

The first thing I noticed with this art was the mussels in her back. It captures them so well

A lovely clear shot, what I really like are the drips coming off the boob. I love water and drips, so what a great combination

what really catches my eye more then anything about this shot, is the sizes of the bums.
So many woman now a days are so obsessed about the size of their bodies.
Here we have two lovely woman to show size doesn't matter.

=addictedImage is a fantastic duo who are constantly striving to redefine and experiment within the parameters of the Artistic Nude. Their Gallery is full of excellent Nudes, with a lot of Fetish twists that capture dark and often moody, though provoking images. An excellent and professional artistic space.



I am fairly new to the work of this deviant, but I am already falling in love with his interesting and varied Gallery. *lawrencew actually describes his artistic status as a Sculptor, and subsequently has some excellent sculptures among his work, but it was his nudes that first attracted me to his page, which beautifully echo his passion for sculpture and the human form.



Sometimes the most emotive, intimate and touching images come from those done in a non-professional environment, which fully allows the artist to bring their own personal touches to the piece. =raine-angel’s work is a window to her life and passions and I find this particular image incredibly private yet poignant, with the deviation description really hitting home for me.



Sometimes the classic poses are just the best by far. This image instantly screamed ‘Renaissance muse’ at me and I just adored it. The rest of =PhotobyLolita’s Gallery is just as stunning. His work displays a massive arc of expertise and themes, ranging from beautiful outdoor nudes to darker images of bondage and fetishism.



Again another amazingly intimate and sensual Gallery. Her work is almost exclusively black and white and has such an emotive, timeless feel to it. This particular image simply took my breath away, the tones are stunning and the crop, I feel, is perfect. Most of her darker, more erotic images tend to crop or obscure the face, lending to a beautiful sense of ambiguity, that just makes her work that more relevant and inviting.

This photo has a title that immediately impacts your emotions, but the photo drives it home with a haunting image that captures the visual emotion of losing ones identity when surviving such a horrid trauma. The blurred face coupled with the sallow skin color and position of the arms makes for an excellent image expressing so well the pain which the title initially introduces to us.



"Wild" is a very apt title for this photo. The pose of the model and motion of the hair really work well to convey the expression the photographer was going for. I also like the green tone and the shadows that bring even more depth to the shot. The harsh grain and light add a nice overall spooky feel to it as well. This photo while it may seem simple at first makes me sit up and take notice.



This is one of those photos that makes me just sit and sigh. It may seem to be just a simple nude in nature but to me it is much more dramatic than that. The combination of the light falling on to the body and the dark clouds in the back ground makes me feel relaxed even in the face of what seems impending adversity. ~l0zt-S0uL has a gorgeous way of making nude photography such an incredible thing to view.



This photo is very simple but at the same time very dramatic and expressive. The way the chair works with the contours of her body not only in shape, but texture and light too, is terrific! The natural overhead lighting is perfect to create a soft atmosphere and shadows that melt into her skin. ~vikingexposure‘s photo is a relaxing moment that serves as a good example of how simple is sexy too.



`kevissimo is one of those artists whose work never ceases to amaze me. He is the perfect example of how artistic nude photography does not have to always be clear, smooth, and outright typically beautiful to create an impact on the viewer. His process is very unique as well and I highly suggest checking the information out when you get a chance. "Dreamer" is one of those images that make me sit and stare for awhile to absorb all the varied qualities. The way the hand seemingly is an entity of its own is wonderful as are the shadows that almost become one with the flesh. It is another image that reminds me of the diversity that can be found not only in the artistic nude category, but over all of deviantART.
