Let me tell you about a few girlfriends. Some of them are my friends, some are connected to each other but not much to the author of this article. The thing that unites them all is geography (Lithuania) and some space in the web (deviant art and the friendship/watch option).
Some of the works presented are 'traditional', some painted by digital means, but in every case it is always a portrait of a girl done by hand of a female artist.
Ain't no doubt that female artists see at least some things differently than male. When ladies paint female characters, is that a true act of self expression? Can we call it basically a self-portraiture? Not every time, probably, but isn't there a huge amount of artist's personality in her portraits?
