New Fractalist of the Month feature
Date: 28 February 2008
Well hello all of you fractalists out there in dA land!! Welcome to the second issue of New Fractalist of the Month for the year of 2008!
So, now our female New Fractalist of February hails from the Great Lakes area, so if you live in this area, give her a shout out alright! She started out as a general fiction writer, but has since discovered the art of fractals. When asked during a recent interview on the 12th of Feb. when she discovered fractals, here is what she had to say: I discovered fractals at my school, my art teacher had it in his computer last year, and I decided to mess around with it the whole year in art class. I got good at it and then I decided to download it onto my computer. I then asked her who she admired in the community, and she said, I love the art and scripts of =
ThePieProphet! Some of my artwork is done by using his scripts to which I replied, I love his scripts also
. I then asked her if she had any other scripts that she tended to use over and over again. She replied with, theres the Julian_Heart_script_by_Shortgreenpigg and Julian_Beads_script_by_Shortgreenpigg I like using
, she also went on to mention that she has over 200 scripst at her disposal; wow, quite a lot there! I next asked her if she had a particular style; she simply mentioned that she pretty much liked all styles, but that ones that have good texture, design and shape tend to grab her attention. And lastly, one of the final questions I asked her was this: fav, comment, or both
which do you prefer? And she said, both preferred, if someone has a question or comment i'm always willing to listen. So when you see a piece designed and uploaded by ~
Lostmemorys, please dont hesitate to type a comment or two and let her know what you think of her art ok, show some dA~love! And now, introducing, our female NFotM! Here is the piece we are featuring from ~
Lostmemoryss gallery, enjoy!

Crystal Arrow
And now on to our male New Fractalist of February! So our male NF was interviewed on Valentines Day, and here are some excerpts from his interview.
When asked when he discovered fractals, he said, I spotted the name Apophysis floating around the internet and Googled it; I and I thought the art was pretty interesting I'd been interested in linear fractals before
so I pretty much just downloaded it and started experimenting with tutorials and such. The next question was of whos work he admired, and he had this to say; Platinus, for one
I really love his tiling style and such especially the shiny fractals. I then followed up with this question of Who or what inspires your art? He said: Hmm, thats a hard one; I'm really not devoted to any single muse, i'm a dabbler, so pretty much anything interesting I see I try. Then I wanted to find out his method of naming; and he has a pretty interesting way to do this, here is his reply; Recently, it's been song names; like Laika He then continued by saying;
usually I ask my friends what the "first draft" looks like, get the name, and work from there trying to make it more like whatever it is . One of my final questions was this; if you could ask any senior fractalist to mentor you who would it be; and why? to which he replied; If it were possible, I'd ask *
Zueuk I really do enjoy 3D apo, although I suck at it
it's definitely something I'd like to get better at. When I asked him the fav, comment or both question, here is the interesting thing he said, which I find to be very true with a lot of the artists around
i'd prefer a comment, favs don't really help me along, it's just a sort of generic "Good job!" to me; I'd definitely like more critiques and comments, yeah.
Now in the interview, we had another fractalist in attendance and mentions one pretty cool thing about our candidate; that Kagu-Tsuchi has the highest score on cmptrwhz' and platinus' password contest. Also, our own ^
Sophquest had a question for Kagu-Tsuchi; she asked him What is your most and least favorite fractal program? To which he replied: To tell the truth, I haven't really tried many other programs besides apophysis yet, but Ultra Fractal pieces always seem nice to me, the color and gradient seem to to beat out apophysis most of the time.
So now, all of you senior and new fractalists; go and take a look at both of our candidates galleries and show them the dA-love ok! Here is the piece we are featuring from ~
Kagu-Tsuchis gallery, enjoy!
