Just getting into BJD, but have no idea where to start shopping? A vetran and tired of telling 1000 people that you got your hydrangea from 4D? Here's a little linksource to cure your woes. Not every company/wig manufacturer/eye manufacturer is listed here, but it's a good place to start.

If your art is not getting much attention, or people's attention are drawn to details that shouldn't be the first things to notice, you might reconsider your thoughts about colours.
dA is the widest and most popular Cyber Gallery. dA is the best place to expoze your creations, to get recognition, to discover other's art. And for many other reasons you may be happy to be a Deviant. Therefore dA have bugs... Then read this...
I'm doing a Fine Art degree and the common snobbery that you often find in the fine art world is very present. We don't do animation - that's a craft. We don't do woodworking - that's a craft. It just continues. We don't do anything illustrative - that's a craft.
Now I'm an illustrator by trade and this confused me. Have I taken the wrong course? Am I not an artist then?
I've thought about it a lot. And here is my decision.
Craft is Art with a purpose. It's not just an image with a message, it's an image with a message that you can eat or put something in, or sit on or that tells a story... An original tapestry would be art, but one made from another person's pattern is craft as it's a tool to learn how to sew I guess.
I love art. I love art that can stand alone and not do anything and still mean something. But you know what, if it weren't for crafters, I'd be wearing a sack and sitting on a barrel.
So guys I want you to tell me what you think. What is art to you? What is craft to you? And are they equal?
I agree with your take on it. Art can be in MANY different forms. To me basically anything that requires a creative thought process can be considered art. If something a person has made something that brings a reaction from another: think, smile or anything then it can be considered art and illustration definitely fits into that category.
Art snobbery really annoys me and they seem so often to use that word- "craft" for what is not considered as good. To me its all art, some of it with a purpose, some not, some good and some really bad but I prefer calling it Art ...but that's just me.

Art is work performed for the primary reason of evoking emotion in the target audience. Craft is art performed for the primary purpose of obtaining revenue. Craft requires art.

I think about this a lot 8D It's hard to answer ಠ_ಠ
I think the high artworld has a very snobbish outlook. Which is wierd, because if an unmade bed can be art and a shark in a tank can be art then why can't a picture of my dog in biro be art?
What I'd say was art is whatever the purpose you have for creating it, regardless of style or medium. If you're trying to display a feeling or message, change the way people think about art or just for the love of it it should be art.
Art is one of the most powerful things a human can create. If an image (or sculpture etc) is powerful enough to envoke an emotion in people then there's no reason it shouldn't be art (especially humor in my opinion, because that's what the art world is lacking ಠ_ಠ Arts needs more lulz ) It's one of the few things that can make you immortal.
My old tutor once said to me the difference between illustration and fine art is for illustration someone writes you a brief, for fine art you write your own. Craft could become art though.
But art needs craft though, if it's going to convey something, it has to be visually appealling somehow.
I shall be silent before I begin to confuse and contradict myself. Oh god, comment is so long DDD:
For me, craft and art serve the same positive personal purposes.
I use art to reach various states of mind, to energize my life, to shed my skin, to learn new things. And when I wear clothes made by my textile artisan mother, I do not wear them just to cover myself. There is always some positive personal purpose for me there, like the clothing makes me feel certain way about myself. I use it in my life the way I use a painting.
Also mass produced clothes -- or chairs or whatever -- can be used like that, although I wouldn't still call them art or craft. As they are hardly man-made. And also often I use mass-produced items only for 'negative' purposes. Like, making sure I don't have to run from police, because of public nudity.
Further than that, I don't see much point in discussing about art or craft or non-art or whatever. I recognize no artistic value as such -- things are useful for me or they are not.

You know I loathe that answer. It's a total cop out. I am pretty much that open minded but there are always instances when that doesn't apply... when art becomes something else.
e.g dog tied to wall to starve. Art becomes Animal Cruelty.

`arcipello's artwork is instantly recognisable. His vibrant colours and sci-fi scenes are breathtaking at times, pulling you into a world where man and machine live in colourful harmony.
An inspiration to many, Daniel's dedication to his craft is evident throughout his gallery, with many of his beautiful prints hanging on walls across the globe.
