I love old blues songs, they can be such a riot. For instance, Bessie Smith does a song called "I Want a Little Sugar in my Bowl" which I recorded. Alot of times they song writers used metaphors for naughty-ness. Well, I am going to perform this old song called "I've Found a New Baby" which was originally done by Ethel Waters, and the lyrics are cute, but not racy enough for me, so I thought, why not throw a naughty lyric contest? There are alot of poets and writers here on dA, why not ask them to come up with a bawdy verse?
Here are the originals lyrics, and you can listen to the song on my website
[link]"I''ve found a new baby, I've found a new Boy
That sweet talkin' Baby is my pride and joy
His new kind of lovin' and tender caress
Is hot as an oven, can make me say yes
Got a kiss, full of bliss, I can't resist him now
Tells me lies, but he's wise, and baby, wow!
No foolin', I just had to fall
I've found a new baby, new baby that's all"
I will award the winner a years sub to dA, a copy of my jazz CD and an 11 x 14 print of my work. The deadline is April 30th.
Here's an example of a cute verse written for me by a friend at the Feast of Fools
I've got me a man now, he's far from a boy
He fills out his trunks like a tonka car toy
When I first glanced it, oh my what a shock
that can't be a penis it must be his . . .sock
I can't wait to see what you can come up with!
Devious Comments
It will be fun working with those old blues metaphors.
I can hear Memphis Slim, Big Bill Broonzy, Big Moma Thornton and the likes already.
This is going to be fun!
