As a part of the celebration of the International Women's Week on DeviantArt I have interviewed several woman artists who inspire me.
I like *
one-eyed-cat's work a lot, actually for almost two years now. She keeps pushing me harder with her artworks full of emotion, raw, loud with
superb textures, as well as her serene dream scapes that let my mind float away, rest and relax. She is an artist of extreme contrasts which can be seen by
her body of work.
Can you please tell me a little bit about yourself?Im born and living in Vienna, Austria
Ive studied Psychology at the University of Vienna and worked for several years in a neurological hospital department
I have
* additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
*Art Therapy training including courses in painting/drawing techniques as well as in the study of Chromatics
Since 2000 Im working as a self employed psychotherapist
What do you enjoy about artwork?I enjoy feeling emotion, a certain depth, darkness....the depths of the human mind, and when I can see (=feel) the artist behind
What inspires you?My work experiences, the mechanisms of the human mind - such as dreams or memories, my own emotions, the ocean and of course other painters and photographers
Can you name me few awesome artists on DA and why they are inspiration to you? There are many inspiring artists here, but I will name here some who are always generously supporting me and helping me to evolve

Which are your 5 favourite works of yours and why?
TheFinalDestination
my newest, I love the mood and the aged look of the canvas

TheShadowedNight

Abstract Jun.19 2006

old, but an all time favorite, I love the colors and the surface in this
Which themes do you like exploring with your artwork and why?Through imagery I am attempting to reveal hidden parts of the human mind and the unconscious. My specific interests are in landscapes and waterscapes. I
initiate the feelings of waves, reflections, vast horizons, dark endless paths that lead nowhere in particular, but in the end come back to display a sense
of calm. A manipulation in paint of varied weather conditions and the play of light, enables me to create an intended analogy between the mechanisms
operating in the human mind. I achieve this exploration in a similar fashion through abstraction in my acrylic paintings. By using multiple layers of paint,
distressing the flat plane, scraping and removing areas, I attempt to control the surface of the canvas till a story, or a type of visual dreamscape is
developed.
How do you find yourself as a woman in the artworld?I dont have any experiences in the artworld (meaning art business) yet...and there are still less women artists, at least known ones...
Can you name 5 of your favourite works on DA and tell us whythey are your favourite? Its always hard to pick from so many works I love so
I chose works from my favorites gallery, that are depicting the female
body to celebrate the beauty of women:

Lets debunk few myths. Which is your favourite colour and why? How do you feel about pink colour especially it being used with everything girl?Red and blue, antagonistic in their psychological meaning, but also parts of a whole (when youre mixing one part vermillion and two parts prussian blue you
will get indigo blue, also a favorite color of mine)....
Concerning the use of pink, all I can say is people like to categorize....still I dont mind girls wearing pink as long as their education helped their
development towards being powerful and strong beings...
What do you think needs to be done so women around the world would be able to stand on equal footing with men? Do you think we are equal? Why do you think when one talks about masters in art there are no women mentioned? What do you believe needs to be done to change this? The problem is we are still living in a mostly patriarchic society, future women are born, raised and educated by women who made their experiences in this
society and are lacking of self confidence due to contributions about what a woman should be, do etc..., I think profound changes are taking a lot of time,
but everyone could contribute in raising awareness...especially men are here invited too
Who is your favourite woman artist and why?Frida Khalo....she went her way artistically and in private life without compromises, despite her physical problems due to a terrible and life threatening accident, spine surgery, miscarriages etc.
Her works are full of screaming emotion and unvarnished depiction of her physical and emotional pain, about her relationship with Diego Riviera and all its ambivalence, self portraits showing her development and her conflicts. She was an admirable woman and artist.
