Just getting into BJD, but have no idea where to start shopping? A vetran and tired of telling 1000 people that you got your hydrangea from 4D? Here's a little linksource to cure your woes. Not every company/wig manufacturer/eye manufacturer is listed here, but it's a good place to start.

If your art is not getting much attention, or people's attention are drawn to details that shouldn't be the first things to notice, you might reconsider your thoughts about colours.
dA is the widest and most popular Cyber Gallery. dA is the best place to expoze your creations, to get recognition, to discover other's art. And for many other reasons you may be happy to be a Deviant. Therefore dA have bugs... Then read this...
In a community that encompasses many different cultures and artists, there has always been an unspoken rule for us to thank other deviants for "favouriting" our work. Is thanking other deviants on their main pages an act of kindness or a generic way to self advertise?
It's a simple act of kindness and appreciation.
One way to look at it is that thanking other deviants for appreciating your work is totally appropriate. The problem with this method is that one deviant 1 favs deviant 2's work, then deviant 2 thanks deviant 1. The End. This cuts off many deviants from socialization. When this action is repeated by many deviants, it hurts the community.
It's a selfish and generic way to self advertise.
Others believe that generic "thank you for the fav" comments are nothing more but spam on their profile pages. What's worse is when deviants actually try to self advertise without giving any personal consideration for the deviant's profile that they're posting on. The problem with this viewpoint is that when a deviant does not want these comments on his page, he will hide them. This also damages the community.
What is the right and what is wrong?
It's not bad to thank deviants for enjoying your artwork, but if you would like to provide more unique comments comment on the deviant's gallery, their interests, their journal entries, or even their username.
Open discussion: Do you see "thank you for the fav" comments as a kind gesture or meaningless spam? What do you think you can do to improve the community by change how we thank people for enjoying our work?
I've often wondered about this myself, even as I was thanking them. I see it as both, really, I don't think it's completely selfish or completely selfless either. It's nice to visit someone's page and take the time to view their work, and more often than not, if someone is popular, your comment won't last very long on the front page anyway.
I think it's kind of passing someone off when they don't say anything else about your work, or comment and favorite one of your works as well. I always try and leave something meaningful for people who take the time to look at my work, because I want them to continue wanting to look at it. I get kind of insulted when people just go and leave a quick comment and that's it.

i think it really depends a lot on the deviant in question.
i know there are those who just want to be noticed on other artists' pages. [heck, let's admit it--it works! i find a lot of artists that way...] effective? quite. appropriate? not so much.
there are others who really just want to share their gratitude, and that is laudable, no question.
i'm one of those who doesn't leave the "ty for the ". it becomes redundant to me, more of a motion than actually saying thanks, and it's not worth it if it's not sincere.
i personally prefer to return the favour of looking through the deviants gallery, and often comment, if not favourite, in return.
i guess it's an issue of personal preference, but i think it would be more productive if we all started trading comments rather than skipping across everyone's profile pages. :]

I never really thought of it as being spam, but now that you mention it I could see how some people might think of it that way. I can also kind of see how someone might try to use these "thank you" comments as a means of self promotion, but I can't imagine that this would be an effective means of promotion.
It's funny in a way, because when I first came to dA four years ago I never thanked anyone, but I always at the very least browsed the person's gallery. Then I noticed that other people would thank me for favorites, and assuming this was the norm, I got into the habit of doing it myself so that I wouldn't look like an ungreatful jerk. Although I still browse people's galleries and comment on their deviations occasionally when they favorite my work, I've found that the more favorites I get the harder it is to come up with creative "thank you" comments.
I must admit, that I am a thanks for the 'er when I'm in a hurry, but I figure it's better than not thanking at all, because I truly am grateful for the attention...but usually I like to browse their gallery, give some comments and occasionally fave and watch...so I don't expect any creative comments because, if I can't consistently do it, then I won't expect anyone else to. But I will try to be a bit more creative from now on..

I don't really think it's selfless or selfish either (because I do visit those who faves and says thank you) but it's because after I said that in their message board that I check their galleries
But I think it's the deviants opinion too of either thinking its spamming or not but for me, I do appreciate those who thanks me for favs
but now that you mention it, i'll try to look in their gallery first than thanking them for the fav first so I can put something else than 'thank you'

I thank people because i really do truely appretiate that they took the time to click that lil ol' add to favs button. I try to say more, it depends on if i have something to say. Normally when I go to thank someone I also have a browse thru their gallery, its my way of saying "well you took the time to look at my work, so ill return the favour"
I thank people who faved my deviations and i take a small tour in their galleries, if i can. I usually found a lot of interesting deviations and i return the favor commenting and faving their good work. Sometimes i found interesting polls or journals and then i post a comment too, or watch the user if he/she is very good... i think this is a way to support each other.
