Hello, ~
Vloth and first of all thank you for dedicating your time for this interview.
International Women's Week is coming up (3-9 of March) and so we devised a series of interviews for you, from deviantART's most wonderful women artists. They are as varied as you could imagine - photographers, stock artists, digital painters, web designers and more but they all share one common thing.
They are women.
"As many of us already have read, or know, women had to fight for their equal footing with the men, and in some parts of the world they are still very underprivileged. We as women still get paid less than men for same positions, a lot of us are undereducated, a number are being treated as commodity even slavery, forced into prostitution... We even have girls at extremely young age being forced into marriage with much older men, and what makes it even worse their bodies are underdeveloped for childbearing and many die during childbirth or suffer later from side-effects of it, such as weak bladder and lowering of the uterus, being outcasted by community and families. We still struggle to break the glass ceilings in the corporate world, and in many parts of the world women do not have right to vote, or even speak up.
So in order to change this, to give all those young women hope, and a drive to succeed we wanted to organise the event that will empower women, that will give women and girls strength to reach for their dreams, that extra push they need."
Today, we are superwomen. We are doctors, nurses, managers, secretaries and mothers.
Please tell us about yourself.~
Vloth: My name is Mika Nilsson I'm 19 years old and I live in Sweden. I'm studying my last year of theathre in high school, but what I really like is art and therefore I'm applying for some art schools for this autumn.
I'm as most people, I like to hang out with friends, listen to music, watch films etc. I enjoy learning to know new people and travel. My ambitions is to maybe in the future become an architect, like my father.
What do you think are the biggest issues for women in the world today?~
Vloth: I believe that would be equality. Women sadly easily gets looked down upon. If it has to do with physical strength or with sex I do not know. Depending on which country you live in equality has increased in some. here in Sweden I'd say we are quite, not perfectly thought, equal, but I have heard lots of other scenarios.
Do you think there is an easy fix to this problem?~
Vloth: I'd say both yes and no to that. It's always easy to think that you just can change something right away, but it takes effort and that people do want to change. That's the hard thing. I think that we need to get everyone to understand the importance of equality for a flourishing society.
Who are the women you look up to or inspire you the most? (it can be on dA or in real life)~
Vloth: My best pal Jonna [~
knarkariris] and my mother Tina.
Other than that I mostly get inspired by certain works, paintings etc and not by the person herself.
What inspires you about them?~
Vloth: Jonna has one of the most wonderful faces on earth, she always inspire me to draw and paint, also she's a really great friend and when we are toghether no one can hurt us.
My mom really pushes and encourages me in everything I do, she has showed me that women are strong. I'm really thankful to both of them.
We know deviantART is a wonderful place to grow as an artist in. Do you think deviantART has helped you realise things about yourself in the context of being a woman? Has it helped you grow as a woman?~
Vloth: What I feel about deviantArt is that it doesn't matter if you're a woman or a man, you can be totally anonymous and get great comments and feedback on your works. Sometimes I see art on this site that makes me think "that must be a man who has created that!" and it turns out to be a woman, and of course the other way around too. Such things makes me glad.
I don't go around thinking much about men and women at all to be honest. But what I know is that I have grown as an individual and as an artist on this website.
What message would you leave for the future women? (if you had a little sister, what would be the most important thing you would pass on to her?)~
Vloth: I'd say that she should stand up for herself and her opinions, but also to accept critiques and accept other people's way of thinking.
We're women from dawn to dusk. Can you tell us of an event that your being a woman hindered you in?~
Vloth: Actually I can't. But I have been mistaken for a guy several times and that has had it's benefits. Also when some guys has realised I'm a woman they gets really nervous and one time that helped us put of trouble. I find it quite funny.
How would you suggest to fix that?~
Vloth: My clothing? I won't change it.
What do you think is the most important thing people should realise about women?~
Vloth: Half of the world's humans are individual women, and the rest is individual men. We are all different and has to accept one other as we are, no matter what sex we are.
Is there anything you would like to add?~
Vloth: I hope I stayed to the subject..

Again, thank you ~
Vloth for taking the time to let us get to know a woman's life from up close.

I agree that in Sweden the gaps between the sexes aren't that big (even though some people like to make mountains out of molehills
