Imagine the Imagination

*gromyko:icongromyko: reports, October 4
Art is distinctively a product of imagination, of that faculty of the mind which has to do with perceiving images, —the image of one thing in the form of another. While science, therefore, may find a single form interesting in itself, art, at its best, never does. It looks for another form with which the first may be compared

Int'l. Women's Week Features

=EuroFoxx:iconEuroFoxx: reports, March 4
During my year and a half on deviantART I’ve met some beautiful, kind, generous, and caring women who have truly made my time here an enjoyable one. Whether through swapping notes, just general comments, critiques, or shared favourites, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know some wonderful ladies, and would like to introduce a few of them to you as well.

1.) *nikkigal88 is probably the most fitting to start with, as she’s the one who introduced me to the wonderful world of deviantART. Through our shared love for the fabulous Gerard Butler (yes, the hunk of delicious Scotsman in movies such as 300, Phantom of the Opera etc.) and our passion for art, we‘ve become friends despite the fact that we live on opposite ends of the globe.

2.) *primulatook This woman is a graphite goddess, and I love her style. Her drawings are whimsical and romantic, and I just love how they have a delicate, timeless feel to them. She is a lovely woman with a heart of gold and a knack for decorating, not to mention a way with the pencils.

3.) ~artizd This fabulous traditional artist never fails to amaze me. Her pencil portraits are magical and you can tell her heart goes into every piece she creates. Her attention to detail and delicate shading also make for very lifelike drawings, and I always look forward to her submissions.

4.) *Moniki is a beautiful, talented and generous woman who has supported me since I first joined. When I had nothing but horrible, grainy, lopsided, and out of focus photos to post (I know, you’re saying “what’s changed?” :P), she helped me out by taking the time to edit them for me as best as she could. This generosity and kindness to a mere rookie on the site was just a display of her inherent good nature, and not expected when many less talented yet popular artists can be unhelpful or even rude. Not only is she a beautiful person, she is an extremely talented artist as well.

5.) I had the pleasure of meeting the fabulous ~Laartista through a club on deviantART, and have been an avid fan of hers ever since. Though she hasn’t posted anything in while, her gallery is full of gems that will delight any traditional art fan.

6.) *QAZklh is a fellow Phantom fan and a multi talented artist. Whether using colored pencils, graphite or paints, she always manages to capture the likeness of her subjects. There is never a dull moment in her gallery, and I always look forward to seeing her new works.

7.) *TehPirateCelt is a wonderful photographer and writer, and I always enjoy reading what she has to say in her submissions, notes, and journals. On more than one occasion we’ve also found ourselves ranting at the deadly workload and drama that school never fails to dish out, and the chance to unload never fails to make me feel better.

8.) ~theresebees is a ridiculously talented young artist and just a lovely person to know. She is always supportive, and I’m pretty sure her pencil portraits are 10x better than anything I was producing at her age. Her talent is limitless, and she has a bright artistic future ahead of her.

9.) =westernphilosopher is just a cool gal to know, and her gallery is full of both traditional and digital awesomeness. She is multi-talented and can work with a pencil just as well as a tablet pen. She’s generous and talented, go check out her gallery.

10.) ~Sparcle5 is another talented young artist with a lot of potential. I was stuck on one of my pieces, she really motivated me to finish it, and we’ve been friends since. I really love her colored pencil work, and since she’s just started painting, I look forward to seeing more paintings from her as well. Go give her some love!

11.) ~Samwise45 is a lovely lady who I met on another site, and she has just rediscovered her love for drawing. She has a very delicate style, and I love how she shades and blends her drawings. They’re always very elegant and detailed, and her gallery is definitely worth a visit.

12.) =judylee is an incredible watercolor artist whose landscapes and animal portraits are just stunning. I love the vibrant colors, and how she’s always able to bring so much detail into watercolor works. They’ve never been my cup of tea, but seeing the lovely works she is able to create make me want to try my hand at them as well.

13.) *balloonfactory’s gallery is full of wonderful colored pencil works, and her portraits (people and pet) are amazingly realistic. Whether abstract or traditional, her pieces have a wonderful depth to them, and a visit to her gallery is definitely in order.

I did what I normally do when I'm investigating something... I dived in and messed it up. Threw away the manual, ignored the notes, and laughed in the face of Balloon Help.
