Unknown Photography Feature: Issue 2

*Windcall:iconWindcall: reports, March 4, 2008
Hello and welcome to issue 2 of the Unknown Photography Feature; an article that focuses on Photographers with little to no recognition in the general art community. Artists and photos are picked by a variety of people, including the artists themselves.

Featured Artist:
This month we feature an artist from Canada who's practiced eye has captured many stunning images within the Canadian West. :iconaltered-states: has noticed and developed many photographers, as well as gained their respect and admiration.

Take a look at these stunning captures!

Land of the Living Skies is a very accurate term for this province.

So lets have everyone stop on by and take a look at his amazing gallery; one can easily see how far he has come upon viewing the earlier photos in his gallery.

Featured Photos:
This month we have a wide variety of photos to showcase. Dozens of artists were found and submitted providing many wonderful photographs deserving some recognition. One can easily see the growing technique and ample passion poured into these photos. I can tell these photographers will quickly hone their craft and surprise us all. Lets get to it shall we?

This is just a simple shot of a rose leaf during this rather oddly warm winter. Im fond of it but it simply is not getting the exposure that I would like it to.

The meta info is gone due to the touch up and format changes, but it was shot with a Cannon A710 with no special lens.

This picture means a lot to me. This picture was taken after my Girlfriend broke up with me, actually she's on the picture. Things are going well between us and we'll be back together soon, I hope. Everytime I look at this picture I'm reminded of though long time with her, and I'm feeling hope for the future.

:iconmordecai36::
This was quite possibly the most difficult shot I've ever taken; crawling up cliffs, and stepping in very soft mud was merely the beginning. I literally walked across an old water-logged piece of wood about 15-20 feet in the air above soft mud. Nonetheless, as I got to my destination I set up my tripod and used a GND filter to keep the sky from becoming too blasted out.

:iconhoodyboody::
This image is an 18 exposure HDR image of the flowers I received for our 2 year Anniversary. The only goal I had with this image was to make the world fall off the edge of the table. I was more-so proud of myself that there was no cropping and only tonal adjustments.

:iconcantstoprunning::
It's a shot of a telephone pole and two trees with the sun beginning to set behind them. This is what the end of winter looks like where I live--no snow, just trees and sunsets (when it's not raining).

:iconproject-pestilence::
I took this photo on Long Beach by Tofino. The silhouette is my boyfriend Alex whom has always liked the quote, "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" which I thought fit perfectly with this piece. Also the fact that he looks like a traveller makes it all the more worthy of title.

:icondarkviking::
Some say that when we are alone we are an empty shell and we only really exist when we are with and around other people.

A flower in a bouquet my fiancé got me.

:iconphotographynewbie::
One of the shot's I did out of a small series of which I tried to portray various common sayings this one is 'a watched pot never boils'.

The next Photography Feature will begin April 7th. Please send a note to :iconwindcall: with all submissions and recomondations with either a link to the artists' dA page, or a Thumb of the selected works.
