Can You Survive Virza? [OC Writing Contest]

reports, March 4, 2008The ~Writers-Critique is looking for participants and judges (we really need some judges) for it's first Original Character Tournament, starting officially on March 14th. The OCT, titled Virza, involves a unique take on your average OCT, offering the option of teams, collabs, and extensive backstory.
The battles begin in the city of Virza. The year is 2008, four years before the total apocalypse. A pandemic has broken out, massacring the population of planet Earth. The Sözen virus has arrived, making its horrific début.
Having no available cure, more than ninety percent of the population infected die within forty-eight hours. The other infectees seem to have some sort of immunity to the virus and only carry it, rather than be affected.
But some of the longest recipients have begun to succumb to carrying the disease. Europe, where the pandemic first broke out two months ago, has become virtually uninhabited. Civilization as everyone knew it is gone . . . perhaps forever.
In Virza, an unnamed figure has begun calling the shots, to much of the inhabitants’ distaste. In a very strategic manner, the masked leader began a following. Using the people on their side, they tracked down and captured many of the people left surviving.
The surviving citizens of Virza were drugged, dragged, beat senseless, or all of the above until submissive. When they woke up, they realized their situation had suddenly become much, much worse.
The captured will now be forced to fight each other. The prize? The cure to the Sözen virus.
There's no escape when you're drowning and crave oxygen.
And so the ringmaster will get to enjoy his little game of life and death. The others will have to fight for the cure, or pay with their lives. There are no other options.
