Some people feel that they are never bound for college I know I do. I hope to get into a college for animating arts, but I cant even stand thinking about the future. All the college’s expectations are for it to be original and “good”. What is this definition of good? Is it to take ones breath away? That’s all college’s think; the definition of good in art does not exist. Art is about expressing yourself in a creative way. It is true that certain pieces of art obviously have a lot more time and effort put into them. For an example a canvas filled with paint compared to a canvas with 2 brush strokes. The canvas filled with paint may take your breath away and have extreme detail. Many people may like this however even though less effort was put into the canvas with 2 brush strokes some people like the pure simplicity of it. The quality of art all depends on the person who is viewing it.
Now you might say when 2 people draw a dog and one looks like a trash can that the other dog is better. Obviously what you’re trying to go for is a dog. When you drew this dog this is how your creative mind perceived a dog and if another person views it as a trashcan that is there outlook. When someone looks at an art piece ranging from paintings to cartoons they are looking through there own personal little window. Each little window of the creative mind is distorted in different ways making the outlook different. Yes there is a general outlook of a dog and if you want to make your art look more like that try to improve on that particular style.
There are many styles of art including many visual forms to many musical forms as well. Each and every last person has a unique style and no two can be the same. What I am trying to say is don’t conform to expectations of art. Be yourself while creating and elsewhere, it gives the best results.
